Your ARRIS login page rejects the password, and trying another default gets you nowhere. There is no universal ARRIS router default password: the right credentials depend on your model, internet provider, and setup method. Start with the matching login below, then check the app and saved passwords before resetting the device.

Try the default that matches your model

Identify your exact ARRIS model before choosing a login below. Connect your phone or computer to the device's local network through Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

For an uncustomized, browser-managed SBG10, SBG6950AC2, SBG7400AC2, SBG7580-AC, or SBG7600AC2, open http://192.168.0.1. Enter admin as the username and password as the password. Select Apply.

If the gateway prompts you to replace the default, select Click Here. Complete Old Password, New Password, and Repeat New Password. Select Apply to save the replacement password.

For a retail SVG2482AC, open http://10.0.0.1 instead. Enter admin in Username and password in Password. Select Login.

Accept the initial password-change prompt with OK. Then set a replacement password in the prompted form.

For an SB8200, S33, or S34 cable modem, find the S/N on the bottom label. This login controls the modem's management interface, not a separate Wi-Fi router. Open http://192.168.100.1.

Enter admin as the username and the last eight digits of the serial number as the password. Select Login on SB8200 or Apply on S33/S34.

On S33/S34, complete Old Password, New Password, and Repeat New Password under Login Setting. Select Apply, then select OK. Sign in with your new password.

For SB8200, try password only as its separately documented default alternative. ARRIS does not identify every firmware version that uses this alternative; SB8200 authentication begins with firmware 1.01.009.47.

For S33/S34, ARRIS lists password as the default on firmware before TB01.02.001.08 and also as an alternative default, so try it if the serial-number login fails. Disregard older tutorials that describe password-free SB8200 access; that applies only to firmware before 1.01.009.47.

Tip: A changed admin password overrides the factory default, and app-onboarded SBG gateways use the credentials displayed in SURFboard Central.

If your internet provider supplied the gateway

For supported Xfinity XB6, XB7, XB8, and XB10 gateways, open the Xfinity app's WiFi > View WiFi equipment > Advanced settings > Admin Tool online access. Turn on Allow Admin Tool access and select Save; when enabling access for the first time, create a password and select Save again. Connect to your home network and sign in at http://10.0.0.1 with admin and that password.

For Xfinity access enabled before February 2026 that still uses the label default, enter admin and the bottom-sticker admin password at http://10.0.0.1, then select LOGIN. A customized password overrides the sticker, and the app toggle is unavailable on Wireless Gateway 1, Wireless Gateway 2, and XB3. Xfinity's instructions don't present turning access off and on as a forgotten-password reset; for a changed password you don't remember, Xfinity points to a factory reset.

For AT&T ARRIS BGW210, open http://192.168.1.254 and enter the unchanged sticker Device Access Code when a protected setting such as Firewall > Advanced requests it. For AT&T NVG589, open http://192.168.1.254 and select Home Network > Wireless; when prompted, enter the side-label Device Access Code in Password and select Submit. Its separate Network Key is the Wi-Fi password.

For Frontier NVG443B, NVG448B, NVG448BQ, or NVG468MQ, open https://192.168.254.254 and enter Admin in Name plus the bottom-label password in Password. For Frontier NVG589, open https://192.168.1.254, select Home Network > Wireless, and enter the sticker's Access Code when prompted. Personalized credentials replace these defaults; contact your provider if its gateway has a missing label or different login requirements.

Retrieve the login from SURFboard Central

This retrieves the generated login for a gateway already associated with SURFboard Central. Open SURFboard Central for your associated G18, G20, G34, G36, G54, SBG10, SBG6950AC2, SBG7400AC2, SBG7580-AC, SBG7600AC2, or SBG8300.

Open the Menu bar at the top left and select Access Web Interface. Read the displayed username and password. Some app-managed gateways use your setup email address as the username instead of admin.

Tap Copy to copy the password, then tap Launch Web GUI. Select Proceed if redirected. Enter the credentials exactly as the app displays them. Select Login or Apply, according to your gateway's screen.

When you changed the password and forgot it

A changed admin password explains why the correct model's factory default stops working. Search your password manager for the router's actual IP address, hostname, or saved ARRIS entry.

Check the browser profile or account you used during setup. The saved password must still match the device. In desktop Chrome, open More > Passwords and autofill > Google Password Manager. On Chrome for Android, open More > Settings > Google Password Manager instead.

On Chrome for iPhone or iPad, open More > Password Manager. Select the saved router entry, listed under Passwords on desktop. Select Show password, then complete device authentication if requested.

On iOS/iPadOS 18 or later and macOS Sequoia 15 or later, open the Passwords app. Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode on iPhone or iPad; use Touch ID or your user-account password on Mac. Select the saved router entry. If it is missing, check All, the relevant shared group, or Deleted.

In an Edge profile signed in with a personal Microsoft account, open the three-dot menu > Settings > Passwords and autofill > Microsoft Password Manager. In a work or school profile, your IT administrator may restrict this feature.

Select the arrow beside the router entry. Authenticate with your device password or PIN. Select the eye icon to reveal the password.

In desktop Firefox, open the Firefox menu > Passwords. Find the router entry using Search Passwords, then select the entry.

Select the eye icon to reveal the password or Copy to copy it. Complete operating-system authentication if requested. These tools retrieve a copy you previously saved. They do not read an unknown password from ARRIS hardware.

Get back into your SURFboard Central account

Use your original setup email to recover app access; its verification code signs you into the app, not the router.

  1. 1.Connect to your home network before signing in on G34, G36, or SBG8300, as ARRIS requires.
  2. 2.On the app's Welcome screen, enter your original setup email in Email ID. Installing the app alone does not recover credentials from a gateway never associated with that account.
  3. 3.Select Sign In.
  4. 4.Retrieve the emailed verification code, using Resend if necessary.
  5. 5.Enter the code and select Next.
  6. 6.Open the Menu bar > Access Web Interface to retrieve the gateway login.

Restore access with a model-specific factory reset

A factory reset restores access by erasing custom settings, not by revealing the old password. For an app-associated SURFboard gateway, first open SURFboard Central's Menu bar > Remove Device. Resetting disconnects devices and requires setup again.

Select the gateway, tap Next, and confirm with Yes.

For G18/G20, keep the gateway powered during the hardware reset. For G18/G20 or G34/G36, hold the recessed Reset button for at least 20 seconds. Release the button after that interval.

For G54, hold the recessed Reset button until the LED begins its series of white flashes. Release the button when those flashes begin. Green flashing indicates completion.

For SBG8300, hold Reset for at least 10 seconds. Release the button after that interval.

For SBG10, SBG6950AC2, SBG7400AC2, SBG7580-AC, or SBG7600AC2, hold the recessed Reset button for 10 seconds. Release the button after 10 seconds.

For S33/S34, hold the recessed Reset button on the bottom panel for 20 seconds. Release the button after 20 seconds.

For SB8200, hold the recessed Reset button for 10 seconds. Release the button after 10 seconds.

For an AT&T gateway covered by its reset instructions, hold Reset for at least 10 seconds. A shorter hold only reboots the gateway. Release the button after that interval.

Wait for your device to finish restarting. For G18/G20, G34/G36, G54, or SBG8300, establish fresh credentials through SURFboard Central or the browser's Home Network Wizard. For the other SBG gateways listed above, use the restored model-specific default or set up the gateway again in SURFboard Central.

For SB8200 or S33/S34, sign in with the applicable modem default described above. For S33/S34, complete the required password change under Login Setting. For AT&T, use the restored, printed Device Access Code. For a provider-supplied gateway outside the AT&T instructions above, follow your provider's model-specific reset procedure.

Create a password on a newly set up G-series gateway

G18, G20, G34, G36, and G54 use this first-time browser setup when they are not already associated with SURFboard Central. After a factory reset, the wizard creates a new password.

Open http://192.168.0.1 from a device connected to the gateway. For G18/G20 and G34/G36, select Proceed to reach Gateway > Home Network Wizard - Step 1. G54 redirects to Home Network Wizard.

On G18/G20 or G34/G36, complete New Password, Re-Enter New Password, and Type CAPTCHA Here. On G54, complete New Password, Re-Enter New Password, and CAPTCHA. Select Next Step on G18/G20 or G34/G36, or Save Settings on G54.

On G18/G20 or G34/G36, customize the Wi-Fi settings on the following wizard page, or keep the defaults. On G54, this page only shows the default Wi-Fi name and password; customize Wi-Fi after you sign in.

Select Next Step to advance. Complete the time settings, then select Finish. Enter admin in Username and your newly created password in Password. Select Login.

mAX routers use the app instead

ARRIS mAX WC4S, WC4T, W21, W121, W122, W30, W130, W31, W133, W61, and W161 do not provide browser Web Manager access. These models have no browser admin password to retrieve.

Open SURFboard Central to manage your mAX router. If you cannot access the app, use your original setup email in Email ID on its Welcome screen and complete the emailed-code sign-in sequence above.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my ARRIS admin password the same as my Wi-Fi password?

They are separate credentials unless your particular model explicitly uses the same value. A label containing only an SSID and Wi-Fi password is not an admin-password label.

Can I change a forgotten password from the router's settings?

The browser password-change procedures require your current password. They do not bypass a forgotten login. ARRIS also discourages manually changing app-managed credentials, and the G54 browser procedure cannot change a password generated by SURFboard Central.

Can I find a saved router password from another device?

Yes, when the password was saved to an account accessible on that device. Sign in at passwords.google.com with the Google Account that saved it, select the router entry, and use the password preview control. For iCloud Keychain, check another Apple device using the same account. Device-only passwords are not necessarily available elsewhere.

What if I accidentally replaced the correct password in my password manager?

Check the saved item's history. On 1Password.com, open the router item, select its Last edited date, choose View previous versions, and inspect an earlier version. An earlier saved password works only while the router still uses that password.
