A missing UPC router password can stop you from joining Wi-Fi or opening the modem’s settings. Those use separate passwords, and your provider account has a third. Start with the label or a saved device, then use the controls for your provider and modem to change the right password. Leave a factory reset until you have checked those options.

Check the router label first

The printed credentials work when the router still uses its factory passwords. They also work after a factory reset restores the original settings.

On UPC Slovakia’s Connect Box, Giga Connect Box and Giga Connect Box 6, check the underside for SSID and Password. These are the Wi-Fi network name and the password used to join it.

For the router’s settings page, read Settings Password on the underside instead. Use that administrator password at 192.168.0.1 on UPC Slovakia’s supplied modems, unless someone has changed it.

On Giga Connect Box 6, check the removable rear Wi-Fi card for the factory Wi-Fi credentials. To connect through the card, scan its QR code with a compatible phone camera. Accept the connection prompt. The card no longer matches the network after its Wi-Fi credentials have been changed.

Find the Wi-Fi password on a saved device

On an iPhone running iOS 16 or later, or an iPad running iPadOS 16.1 or later, open Settings > Wi-Fi. Tap the information button beside the current network. Then tap Password. Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode to reveal it.

For a previously saved network, select Edit on the Wi-Fi screen instead. Authenticate to open the saved networks. Tap the information button beside the saved network, then tap Password.

On current Windows 11, open Settings > Network & internet > Properties for the connected network. Select Show beside Wi-Fi network password.

For another saved Windows network, open Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks. Select the network. Then select Show beside Wi-Fi network password.

On a Mac with the Passwords app, open Passwords. Authenticate to unlock the app. Select Wi-Fi, then select your network.

Hover over the dots beside Password to reveal it, or click the password to copy it. Use the recovered credential for Wi-Fi, not the administrator login, and remember that a saved password stops matching after someone changes the network password.

Change your Wi-Fi password on UPC Slovakia

UPC Slovakia uses this browser procedure for all its currently supplied modems.

  1. 1.Connect your device locally to the modem through Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
  2. 2.Open 192.168.0.1 in your browser.
  3. 3.Sign in with the administrator password, using the underside Settings Password if it has not been changed.
  4. 4.Select Pokročilé nastavenia > Bezdrôtové > Bezpečnosť.
  5. 5.Enter the replacement Wi-Fi password and select Použiť zmeny.
  6. 6.Reconnect your devices using the new Wi-Fi password.

When the settings password is rejected

Entering the Wi-Fi password at the router’s administrator login uses the wrong credential. For an unchanged UPC Slovakia modem, try the underside Settings Password at 192.168.0.1. For Polish UPC/Play Connect Box, Giga Connect Box and Giga Connect Box 6 models, sign in at 192.168.0.1 using the administrator credentials identified on the underside label.

If someone changed the administrator password, open a browser that previously saved the router login. In Chrome, the path is More > Passwords and autofill > Google Password Manager > Passwords. Select the saved entry matching the router’s address, then select Show password.

Authenticate when requested. Chrome does not save Wi-Fi credentials just because the computer joined the network, and a stored router login stops matching if the administrator password changes afterward.

To replace a known administrator password on UPC Slovakia’s Giga Connect Box, sign in to the modem. Open Admin > Zmena hesla. Enter the existing administrator password, then enter the replacement administrator password. Select Použi zmeny. Editing the saved browser entry alone does not change the router’s password.

Do not treat generic logins from older guides as universal UPC credentials. The Connect Box models listed above use their label credentials unless those have been changed.

Use the Wi-Fi controls for your regional provider

The regional controls resolve an address or menu mismatch.

For Switzerland’s Sunrise Connect Box 2, 3 or 3 Fiber, connect your device locally to the modem. Open 192.168.1.1. Sign in with the administrator password. Connect Box 2 and 3 Fiber identify this as Settings password; the Connect Box 2 factory password is printed underneath.

Select Advanced settings > Configure your WiFi connection. Enter the replacement Wi-Fi password, then select Accept changes.

For Poland’s Compal Connect Box, open 192.168.0.1. Sign in with the administrator password. Open Skonfiguruj połączenie WiFi. Read Hasło sieci WiFi (klucz zabezpieczeń) to find the Wi-Fi password.

To change it, enter the replacement in that field. Select Zapisz zmiany after making a change.

For Vodafone Czechia’s Compal CH7465LG, open 192.168.0.1 from a locally connected device in router mode. Sign in using the label password, or the customized administrator password that replaced it. Enter admin if a username is requested.

Select Pokročilá nastavení > Bezdrátová nastavení > Zabezpečení. Enter the replacement Wi-Fi password, then select Použít změny. In bridge mode, this modem’s address is 192.168.100.1, and it does not provide its normal Wi-Fi service.

Manage supported networks through the provider app

Use the app for your provider and supported equipment, with the provider-account password kept separate from your Wi-Fi and administrator passwords.

  1. 1.For a supported Sunrise Connect Box 1, 2, 3 or 3 Fiber, sign in to the Sunrise Connect app with the associated account.
  2. 2.Open Devices > the central WiFi icon > WiFi Networks > Private network > the edit icon. Enter the replacement password and allow several minutes for the change.
  3. 3.For Austria’s Magenta Home Box Fiber, sign in to Mein Magenta with the associated cable contract. This procedure applies to supported Home Box Fiber equipment; do not assume an older UPC Connect Box has the same controls.
  4. 4.Select your Internet product > Self Service > Anzeigen beside the Wi-Fi password to display it.
  5. 5.For a supported Ziggo installation in the Netherlands, sign in to the Vodafone & Ziggo app. Select Service > Internet > Wifi-instellingen > Wijzig wifi-wachtwoord.
  6. 6.Enter the replacement Ziggo Wi-Fi password and select Aanpassen.

If you use a separate Deco Wi-Fi network

To find the password for a separate TP-Link Deco network, open the Deco app. Select More > Wi-Fi Settings > Share Wi-Fi. This screen displays the network name, password and QR code.

To replace the password, connect to Deco Wi-Fi. Open More > Wi-Fi Settings in the Deco app. Enter the replacement password, then select Save.

If you have lost the TP-Link account password needed to sign in, select Forgot Password? at the Deco app’s sign-in screen. Complete the TP-Link ID recovery process. This restores account access without resetting the Wi-Fi password.

Use the credential for the network you are joining, because Deco’s Wi-Fi password can differ from the UPC modem’s password.

Factory-reset only with your model’s instructions

Use a factory reset when you need to restore the original credentials and accept losing customized settings. Follow the procedure for your exact modem, because button locations and hold times differ.

For UPC Slovakia’s Giga Connect Box 6, leave the modem powered. Hold the recessed bottom Reset button for more than seven seconds using a suitable nonmetal pointed object.

For other modems covered by UPC Slovakia’s general reset procedure, leave the modem powered. Hold the recessed RESET button for approximately 60 seconds. Allow about ten minutes for recovery. Follow the model-specific instructions when they differ from the general procedure, as they do for Giga Connect Box 6.

For Sunrise Connect Box 1, 2 or 3, hold the recessed rear Reset button for at least ten seconds. Allow the modem to recover.

For Sunrise Connect Box 3 Fiber, hold the recessed bottom Reset button for ten seconds. Wait for the reset to finish.

For Vodafone Czechia’s Compal CH7465LG, hold the recessed rear Reset button for approximately ten seconds. Allow up to 30 minutes for recovery.

For hubs covered by Virgin Media Ireland’s modem guide, hold the rear Reset pinhole button for 60 seconds. After your modem recovers, reconnect using its original printed credentials. Sunrise or Ziggo automatic network restoration can bring back previously saved settings after a reset, so factory settings do not necessarily remain in place.

Get help before resetting a shared network

If someone else configured your household, landlord-managed or shared network, ask the owner or installer for the customized password. Check any setup information they supplied before resetting the modem.

UPC Slovakia customers can contact technical support through its Wi-Fi password-help page. Give support the modem model and say whether you need Wi-Fi access or the administrator login. UPC does not promise to disclose a customized password or reset it remotely.

If the owner’s credentials still fail, ask your provider to identify the recovery procedure for your exact modem before trying another reset duration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will restarting my UPC router reset its password?

No. A power cycle or ordinary restart does not reset the Wi-Fi or administrator password. Forgetting a saved network or uninstalling a companion app does not reset either password.

Can I connect through WPS without finding the password?

On UPC Slovakia’s Giga Connect Box 6, press the rear WPS button, then activate WPS on a compatible device within two minutes. This connects the device without displaying or resetting the password. The receiving device must support WPS.

Can I give visitors a separate Wi-Fi password?

Yes. On UPC Slovakia’s Giga Connect Box 6, sign in at 192.168.0.1 and open Pokročilé nastavenia > Bezdrôtové > Hosťovská sieť. Enable the guest network, set its password and select Použi zmeny. This changes the guest credential rather than the main network’s password.

Do the old My UPC and Mijn Ziggo apps still work?

Sunrise no longer supports the My UPC app and directs account migration to My Sunrise. Ziggo says the old Mijn Ziggo app no longer works and directs customers to Vodafone & Ziggo. Changing apps does not reset the modem password.
