To delete a sticker on Snapchat, press and hold it on the Snap’s Preview screen, then drag it into the trash icon. If you want to remove a sticker from Chat recents instead, hold it in the sticker drawer and tap Remove from Recents. Neither action is a permanent deletion method for your saved custom sticker collection.
The short version
- On an editable Snap: Press and hold the sticker, then drag it into the trash icon.
- In Chat recents: Hold the sticker in the drawer and tap Remove from Recents.
- Already sent: Hold your sticker message or Snap in Chat and tap Delete.
- Saved custom stickers: Snapchat’s custom-sticker help explains how to make and save cutout stickers, but it gives no steps for permanently deleting them.

Remove a sticker from a Snap before sending
On the photo or video Snap’s Preview screen, press and hold the unwanted sticker. Drag it into the trash icon to remove it from the Snap. Repeat for each sticker you want to remove, because Snapchat has no delete-all command for placed stickers.
These steps work for editable stickers in Snapchat on iPhone and Android. Removing a sticker here removes its placement on that Snap; it is not a command to delete the saved sticker from your collection.
Remove stickers from Chat recents
Open a Chat and tap the smiley face icon to open the sticker drawer. Locate the unwanted sticker in recents, press and hold it, then tap Remove from Recents. This removes the recent entry, so use the separate message-deletion control if you also want to remove a sticker you already sent.
Delete a sticker message you already sent
Open the conversation containing your sent sticker or Bitmoji message. Press and hold that message, then tap Delete. You can delete your own messages, but you cannot delete another person’s messages.
Other participants can see that a message was deleted, and removal from their devices may be delayed. If the sticker is part of a photo or video Snap you sent, press and hold that Snap in Chat and tap Delete. You can do this when the Snap shows Delivered or Opened, but it deletes the entire Snap.
If you only want to unsave a saved sticker message, open the conversation and tap the saved message again. Unsaving removes your saved state and lets normal expiration rules apply; it does not immediately delete the message. Another participant’s saving, replies, reactions, or the conversation’s retention settings can keep it available.
Remove saved or posted Snaps containing stickers
To delete a saved Snap, swipe up from the Camera screen to open Memories. Press and hold the unwanted Snap, then tap Delete. This deletes the whole saved Snap, including its stickers, but does not remove copies saved elsewhere.
For a Story post, open your account screen and, under My Stories, tap My Story. Press and hold the affected Snap, then tap Delete Snap. Repeat for any other posted Snaps you want to remove. Snapchat attempts removal from its servers and friends’ devices, but previously captured copies remain outside that control.
For a Snap Map submission, open your profile and find Spotlight & Snap Map. Press and hold your submitted Snap, then tap Delete Snap. This removes the whole submission from Map, Search, and Context Cards, while copies shared outside Snapchat may remain.
Clear sticker searches and personalized selfie data
To clear sticker-search data, open your account screen and tap the gear icon for Settings. Under App & Privacy, tap My Privacy & Data. Under Manage My Data, tap Clear Data, then select the sticker-search data category.
This control clears sticker-search data; it is not a saved-sticker deletion method. If you want to remove an entry from the Chat sticker drawer, open that drawer, hold the sticker, and tap Remove from Recents.
To delete the selfie data used for personalized image experiences, open your account screen and tap the gear icon for Settings. Find My Account, then tap My Selfie and tap Delete Selfie. If your screen instead shows Clear Selfie, tap Clear Selfie. These controls remove selfie data, so use message deletion separately for stickers you already sent.
Remove your linked Bitmoji
Removing a linked Bitmoji affects your avatar connection rather than one sticker. Snapchat warns that if you created your avatar through Snapchat, removing it permanently deletes the avatar and its saved Closet items, including purchases. If you only want to remove a single Bitmoji message, delete that message in Chat.
To remove the connection, tap your Bitmoji or Story icon to open your account screen, then tap the gear icon for Settings. Under App & Privacy, tap My App. Under Customize Appearance, tap Bitmoji, then tap Remove My Bitmoji.
Set future messages to expire and report harmful stickers
To make future Chat sticker messages expire after viewing, swipe right from the Camera screen. Press and hold the friend’s or Group’s name, tap Chat and Notification Settings, then tap Delete Chats… and choose After Viewing. The change applies to subsequently sent messages; older messages retain their original settings.
Anyone in the conversation can change this setting, and participants receive a status notice when it changes. Saved content, replies, reactions, and other retention conditions can still affect how long messages remain available. To remove your own existing sticker message directly, press and hold it and tap Delete.
For someone else’s harmful custom sticker in Chat, press and hold the sticker and tap Report. Complete the reporting flow for the actual violation. Reporting requests Snapchat’s review, and removal depends on its decision.
Fix problems removing saved stickers
If a sticker remains in your saved custom collection after you remove it from a Snap or recents, those controls only address the placed sticker or recent entry. Snapchat’s custom-sticker help explains how to make and save custom or cutout stickers, but it gives no steps for permanently deleting them. Removing another instance will not serve as a library-deletion command.
If you want to keep a Snap saved in Memories, you can reopen it for editing. If you can select the sticker in the editor, press and hold it and drag it into the trash icon. Otherwise, you can delete the entire saved Snap using the Memories steps above.
If you are looking for old Cameos controls, Cameos in Chat are no longer available. To manage associated selfie data, open Settings, find My Account, then tap My Selfie. Use the selfie-deletion control shown there, or delete the sent message if the sticker you want to remove is already in Chat.
Delete your entire Snapchat account
Account deletion removes your entire Snapchat account, so reserve it for when you want to leave Snapchat. To start in a browser, sign in to the Snapchat accounts portal, select Delete my account, enter your password, then tap Continue. This route is available to Android and iPhone users.
On iOS, you can also open your profile and tap the gear icon for Settings. Under Account Actions, tap Delete Account, then sign in to the accounts portal. Tap Delete my account, enter your password, then tap Continue.
Both routes initially deactivate your account for 30 days. Permanent deletion follows 30 additional days, or 180 additional days in India, and Snapchat retains some information for specified purposes. You do not need to delete your account to remove a placed sticker, recent entry, or sent message.
