Delete a playlist on your phone or tablet
Deleting a playlist you created removes that playlist from your library. Open Your Library in the Spotify app, then open your playlist. Tap the three horizontal dots on iPhone or iPad, or the three vertical dots on Android, then tap Delete Playlist.
The library’s shortcut menu also lets you delete your own playlist. Open Your Library, then touch and hold your playlist to open its options. Tapping Delete Playlist removes the playlist from your library.
Use these deletion steps for playlists you created. If you saved another creator’s playlist, use the saved-playlist removal steps below; if you want to leave a Blend, use its separate Leave Blend action.
Delete a playlist in the desktop app
Deleting your own playlist removes it from your library. Open the playlist in Spotify, click the three-dot menu inside it, then click Delete.
You can also delete your own playlist directly from the library, which removes it there too. Find the playlist in Your Library, right-click it, then click Delete.
Delete a playlist in a desktop browser
You can delete playlists you created through the Spotify Web Player in a desktop browser. Open the Spotify Web Player and sign in.
Deleting your playlist removes it from your library. Locate it in Your Library, right-click it, then click Delete. For a saved playlist created by another user or Spotify, select Remove from Your Library instead, which removes your saved reference while leaving the creator’s playlist intact.
Remove a playlist someone else created
Removing a saved playlist takes it out of your library without deleting the creator’s playlist. In the desktop app or desktop Web Player, find the playlist in Your Library, right-click it, then select Remove from Your Library. This applies to saved playlists made by other users or Spotify.
If your interface displays a green checkmark on a saved playlist, selecting it removes that playlist from your library. Open the playlist, then select its green checkmark.
Delete playlists inside a folder
Deleting a folder on desktop or web also deletes playlists inside it that you created, so avoid this option when you want to retain some of them. In Your Library, right-click the containing folder and select Delete. You can also open the folder’s three-dot menu and select its deletion action.
On mobile and tablet apps with folder management, deleting a folder can either retain its playlists or delete them together with the folder. Open Your Library, open the folder and tap its three-dot menu, or touch and hold the folder to open its options. Enter the folder deletion flow, then choose whether to keep the playlists or delete them with the folder. Spotify says the choice to retain playlists during folder deletion is a mobile feature.
Leave a Blend
Leaving a Blend takes you out of that shared Blend. On Android or iPhone, open the Blend, then tap the three vertical dots on Android or the three horizontal dots on iPhone. Select Leave Blend. Use this action when you are a Blend participant and want to leave it.
Remove a playlist from your profile
Removing a playlist from your profile removes its profile listing while leaving the playlist available through other access routes. On mobile or tablet, open the playlist, tap its three-dot menu, then select Remove from profile.
On desktop or web, removing the profile listing also keeps the playlist itself. Right-click the playlist or open its three-dot menu, then select Remove from profile.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you delete an individual playlist inside a folder on mobile?
You can open an individual playlist’s options by touching and holding it inside the folder. If you created that playlist, tapping Delete Playlist deletes it.
Do the desktop deletion steps work on both Windows and Mac?
You can use both desktop deletion methods in Spotify’s current Windows and macOS apps. Open the playlist’s three-dot menu or right-click it in Your Library to find Delete.
Do you need Premium for the mobile folder deletion choices?
You can use mobile folder management with either a Free or Premium account when the feature has rolled out to your app. That includes choosing whether to keep playlists or delete them with their folder.
Why do older instructions tell you to tap a green heart?
Spotify replaced its heart-based saving interface with the Plus button and green checkmark. If you are following older green-heart instructions, use the current saved-playlist removal methods instead.
