Facebook doesn't show who has been looking at your profile, and it says third-party apps can't track that either. You can still see who watched your Stories and who reacted to your posts. If you run a Page, you can also see total visit numbers. Here's how to check each one.
See who watched your Story in the Facebook app
This is the closest Facebook gets to a list of names, but it shows who viewed your Story, not who visited your profile.
Open the Facebook app on your Android phone, iPhone or iPad.
At the top of Feed, tap Your Story.
Tap Viewers in the bottom-left corner of the photo or video.
Go through the names. Only you can see this list, and a reaction emoji may appear next to anyone who reacted.
On a public Story, the list can include friends, followers and some people who don't follow you. Some previews are grouped as "others" instead of being named. Facebook Plus subscribers can also preview Stories without appearing on the list, so the list doesn't cover everyone who saw your Story.
Check Story viewers from a browser
On a computer, open Facebook and go to Feed.
Click Stories.
Click Your Story.
Click Viewers in the bottom-left corner. If nobody has watched it yet, you'll see No Viewers Yet.
In a phone browser, tap Stories at the top of Feed, choose Your story, then tap Viewers.
Each list only covers one Story, so open each Story you want to check.
Preview your profile the way visitors see it
View As shows you what the public sees on your profile. On desktop, click your profile picture at the top right, click your name, then click Options below your name and choose View As. Click Exit View As when you're done.
Meta also supports this on Android, iPhone, iPad, mobile browsers and Facebook Lite, but the menus are different on each platform. The preview shows what your profile gives away, not who visited. A post you hide from your profile can still appear elsewhere for the audience it was first shared with.
Older tutorials tell you to type a friend's name into View As to see your profile as that person. Meta's current help only covers the public preview, and neither version shows who visited your profile.
Limit who can see your Stories
This is for when you want to choose who ends up on your Story viewer list instead of trying to work out who's already on it.
On desktop, add a photo or video in the Story composer. Click Settings next to Your story, then pick Public, Friends or Custom.
To hide your Stories from particular people on iPhone or Android, set Story privacy to Friends and open Hide Story From.
Select the people you want to exclude, then tap Done or Back.
Tap Save.
The change applies to your current and future Story items on both Facebook and Messenger.
Find Page visit totals in Meta Business Suite
If you manage a Page, you can see how many visits it gets, but not who made them. Community Pages don't have Insights. On desktop:
- 1.Click your profile photo, choose See all profiles and select your Page.
- 2.Click the Page profile picture, then the Page name.
- 3.Open Meta Business Suite and go to Insights.
- 4.Click Results and scroll to Facebook visits. Demographic data only shows up once at least 100 people are counted.
- 5.For Page Stories, go to Insights > Content, open the Posts and Stories dropdown and choose Stories. Page Stories stay up for 24 hours, and their insights stay available for 28 days.
Review professional mode insights
If your profile has professional mode turned on, you get performance numbers for your content and audience. Facebook doesn't offer a report that lists individual visitors.
On your profile, tap View tools to open your dashboard.
Tap See more insights.
You can also get there from Menu > Professional dashboard in the mobile app, or from Professional dashboard in the Feed sidebar on desktop.
Meta has renamed this area Creator Dashboard or Business Dashboard, so your account may show one of those names instead.
Get extra Story tools with Facebook Plus
Facebook Plus is a paid subscription that adds Story features on iPhone and Android. It puts a search bar in your Story viewer list so you can find a specific person. It also shows how many unique people watched your Story more than once, but not who they were.
To check eligibility, open the Facebook app and go to Menu > Settings & privacy > Settings > Accounts Center > Subscriptions > Facebook Plus. Facebook Plus is now also sold as one of Meta's Meta One plans, so if you see Meta One under Subscriptions instead, tap it to view the plans offered to your account. On iPhone, the next button is Continue. On Android, check the payment details and tap Subscribe.
In Messenger, tap your profile picture and go to Menu > Settings. Then scroll to Accounts Center and tap See more in Accounts Center > Subscriptions > Facebook Plus.
If the option isn't there, your account may not be eligible, since availability depends on the account and region. Subscribing is optional, and it doesn't show who visited your profile.
Remove a profile viewer app from your account
If you connected an app that promised to show your profile visitors, remove it. Facebook says third-party apps can't provide this.
On desktop, click your profile picture and go to Settings & privacy > Settings.
Open Apps and websites.
To report the app before you remove it, click View and Edit next to it.
Scroll down and click Report this app, choose the problem, then click Done.
Back on Apps and websites, click Remove next to the app.
Click Remove again to confirm. This cuts the app's link to Facebook. Meta warns that the developer may keep data it already collected, so if that concerns you, ask the developer to delete it.
Uninstalling the app from your phone or removing a browser extension is a separate step, so do that too.
Rule out clues that don't prove a visit
Reactions show who engaged with a post, not who opened your profile. To see them on desktop, click the reaction icons under a post or comment. Then click a reaction at the top to see who chose it.
People You May Know isn't a list of visitors either. Facebook builds those suggestions from mutual friends, networks, groups, tags and uploaded contacts. Page source tricks, such as searching for "InitialChatFriendsList" or "buddy_id", and so-called "Who Viewed My Profile" menus aren't supported ways to see visitors.
If none of these tools gives you the answer you wanted, you can make your profile harder to browse instead. Use View As to see what the public can see, and use Hide Story From to keep specific people out of your Stories.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a third-party app or browser extension show who viewed my Facebook profile?
No. Facebook says third-party apps can't track profile visitors. If an app claims it can, remove its Facebook access and report it.
Does Facebook Plus show who visited my profile?
No. Facebook Plus adds a search bar to your Story viewer list and shows how many unique people rewatched your Story. It doesn't name anyone who visited your profile.
Why doesn't my Story viewer list show everyone who watched?
Some previews of public Stories are grouped as "others", and Facebook Plus subscribers can preview Stories without showing up on the list. The list is useful, but it doesn't include everyone.
Can I use View As to see my profile as a specific friend?
No. Meta's current View As shows only the public version of your profile. Meta doesn't document the old option to view it as a particular person as a current feature.
