You need to change your Spectrum WiFi password after sharing it, replacing equipment, or locking down who can join your home network. The fastest option is usually the My Spectrum app, with Spectrum.net, activation setup, and support available when the app is not the right fit.

Change it in the My Spectrum app

Use the My Spectrum app when you have residential Spectrum Internet and a Spectrum-provided wireless router, including Spectrum Advanced WiFi or Invincible WiFi.

Open the My Spectrum app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device, then sign in with your Spectrum username and password.

Tap Services at the bottom of the app. Under Your Spectrum Network, choose the WiFi network you want to update.

Select Edit Network Info. Enter the new network name or password, then tap the check mark or Save in the top-right corner.

Fix My Spectrum app access first

The most common cause is that the current My Spectrum app is not installed or you are not signed in with your Spectrum username and password.

Go to Spectrum.com/apps and use the App Store or Google Play link under My Spectrum App.

Install the app, open it, and sign in.

Return to Services, choose your network under Your Spectrum Network, select Edit Network Info, and save the new password.

Use Spectrum.net from a browser

Spectrum.net is the browser path for changing the WiFi name or password on a Spectrum-provided router.

  1. 1.Go to Spectrum.net and sign in with your Spectrum username and password.
  2. 2.Select Services, then select Internet.
  3. 3.Find your displayed WiFi information.
  4. 4.Select the arrow next to your network information.
  5. 5.Change the WiFi password, then save the update.

Create a password during activation

New or replacement Spectrum Internet and WiFi equipment can be personalized during Spectrum’s Internet and WiFi auto-activation or self-install flow. This is the cleanest time to set a new password if you do not want to reuse the old network details.

Start Spectrum’s activation or setup flow, then scan the QR Code on your device when prompted to personalize your WiFi network.

Choose the option to create a new WiFi network name and password instead of reusing the old WiFi network name and password.

Ask Spectrum support to update it

Use Spectrum support when the app or portal will not open your account, your router is not showing correctly, or the password change is part of an equipment issue.

Go to Spectrum.com/contact-spectrum and choose Call Support, Get Support Online, chat or another support option, or Find a Spectrum Store. Ask for help updating the WiFi password on your Spectrum router.

Support may guide you through the My Spectrum app or Spectrum.net.

If online or phone support cannot resolve it, make a Spectrum Store appointment.

Visit a Spectrum Store

Go to Spectrum.com/stores.

Enter your city and state or ZIP code under Find a store near you.

Select Appointment next to the store you want to visit. On the Appointment Booking page, select the type of service you need, choose a date and time, enter your contact information, then select Create Appointment.

Bring account access and ID, then ask for help with Internet service or Spectrum router WiFi password setup.

A store visit works best when account access, app access, or equipment setup is blocking the password change.

Manage Spectrum Business WiFi

Spectrum Business customers should use the business account portal, not the residential My Spectrum path.

  1. 1.Sign in to the Spectrum Business account portal.
  2. 2.Find your WiFi network information.
  3. 3.Select Manage Network.
  4. 4.Enter the new network name and password.
  5. 5.Save the changes.

Skip older local router login advice

Older instructions often point you to a local router page such as 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1, then tell you to edit the 2.4GHz or 5GHz WiFi password from router settings. That is not the current Spectrum-supported path for Spectrum-provided routers.

For a Spectrum-provided router, use the My Spectrum app or Spectrum.net. If you use a customer-owned router, manage that router through its own admin tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will changing my Spectrum WiFi password disconnect my devices?

Yes. Devices using the old password need to reconnect with the new WiFi password after you save the change.

Can I change my Spectrum WiFi name at the same time?

Yes. In the My Spectrum app, use Edit Network Info to change the network name or password. On Spectrum.net, edit the WiFi information for your network.

Can phone or computer WiFi settings change the Spectrum router password?

No. Device WiFi settings may show or forget a saved password, but they do not change the password on the Spectrum router.

What should I do if I cannot sign in to the app or Spectrum.net?

Use Spectrum support online, call support, or make a Spectrum Store appointment for help with account access, equipment setup, or changing the router WiFi password.
