To change your Netflix password, open Netflix’s password page, enter your current password, then enter and save your new password. Use a desktop or mobile browser, sign in if prompted, and switch out of a Kids profile before starting.
If you have forgotten your current password, reset it using your account email or linked mobile number. When the password form displays Sign out all devices, leave it checked to sign out devices already using your account.

Change your password in a browser
Open Netflix’s password page and sign in if prompted. Enter your current password, then enter and save your new password. You can do this on a computer or phone without installing or updating an app.
Alternatively, open your Netflix account settings and select Security > Password. Enter the current password, then enter and save your new password. If you cannot supply the current password, use email or text recovery instead.
Start from the Netflix mobile app
On an Android phone or tablet, iPhone, or iPad, open Netflix using an adult profile. Tap My Netflix at the lower right, tap the profile name at the top, then choose Account. In account settings, select Security > Password.
Enter your current password, then enter and save your new password. You can also use the direct password page in your mobile browser.
Reset a forgotten password by email
Open Netflix’s account recovery page, choose Email, and enter the email address attached to your account. Select Email Me, then open Netflix’s email and select Reset your password. Use the link within 24 hours.
Enter a different password twice and select Save to finish the reset. If the link has expired, return to the recovery page and request another email. If you cannot access the account inbox, use your linked mobile number or contact Netflix for account recovery.
You can also start recovery from Netflix’s Help Center contact page without signing in. Under Quick Links, select Reset password, then complete email or text message recovery. You still need access to the email inbox or linked phone number for the option you choose.
Reset your password by text message
On the recovery page, select Text Message (SMS) and enter the mobile number linked to your Netflix account. Choose Text Me, enter the code you receive, then select Verify within 20 minutes. Enter a different password twice, then select Save.
You need a mobile number already added to the account that can receive Netflix’s message. If you cannot use that number, switch to email recovery or contact Netflix for help recovering the account.
Sign out devices when you change your password
When the password change or reset form displays Sign out all devices, leave it checked before you save. This signs out existing devices as part of your password update. You can also sign out of Netflix everywhere separately, but signing out alone does not change your password.
If Netflix sends you a password reset required email, select its button to set a new password. Choose a password you have not previously used, select Sign out of all devices during recovery, and complete the reset. Netflix can require this change following suspected compromise or other security concerns.
Change your extra member password
If you have an extra member account, your credentials are separate from the paying account owner’s credentials. Sign in to your extra member account through Netflix’s account page, then select Security > Password. Enter your current password, then enter and save your new password.
If you have forgotten your extra member password, select Forgot password? and use recovery with your own account details. Changing the paying account owner’s password does not change your separate credentials.
Find your account with payment details
If you have forgotten the account email and phone number, open the recovery page and select I don't remember my email or phone. Enter the account’s first and last name and payment card number, then select Find Account. When Netflix matches the account, follow the reset email sent to its inbox.
You can use this lookup if you pay with a credit or debit card and the option appears in your region. You still need access to the email address found through the lookup. If the option is absent or you cannot open that inbox, contact Netflix for account recovery.
Get help when you cannot access your email or phone
Use Netflix’s mobile app support when you cannot access the account email or phone, or when other recovery options are unavailable. While signed in, open My Netflix, tap the profile name or menu icon, then select Help and choose Call or Chat. Explain that you need account recovery because you cannot access the account’s contact information.
If you can no longer sign in and cannot access the email or phone number you use to sign in, Netflix says to contact it for help.
Recover your Netflix account through your provider
If your eligible Netflix account is linked to a Spectrum package, contact Spectrum at 1-833-949-0036. Request recovery of your Netflix login information and provide the email address you want to use. Netflix says processing takes 1 to 2 days, followed by a Netflix email with password reset steps.
If your US Netflix account is billed through Comcast Xfinity or included in an eligible package, contact Xfinity at 1-800-934-6489. Request recovery of your Netflix login information and provide your desired Netflix email address. Netflix says processing takes 1 to 2 days, followed by an email with password reset steps. If you have StreamSaver, use its separate account lookup route below.
For Xfinity StreamSaver, sign in to your Xfinity customer account and open TV & Streaming > Your Plan > Add or manage streaming services. Select Help & more info > Remind me > Visit Netflix. Netflix opens with your linked email address prefilled.
Use that email address in Netflix’s email reset flow if you have forgotten the password. You complete the password reset through Netflix after identifying the linked account. For other bundled subscriptions, follow your provider’s specific Netflix recovery procedure because these Spectrum and Xfinity steps do not apply to every provider.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you change your Netflix password directly on a TV?
Use a desktop or mobile browser to change or reset your password; Netflix directs TV password recovery to its recovery process. A TV sign-in code, QR code, or device reset does not change your password.
Does changing the password saved in your browser update Netflix?
Updating a saved credential in your browser or operating system’s password manager does not update your Netflix password. Complete the change through Netflix before updating your saved credential.
Can your secondary profile email have its own Netflix password?
If you sign in with a secondary profile email, you use passwordless sign-in and have no separate password to reset. Ask the account owner for help with account access.
Is your Netflix Profile Lock PIN the same as your password?
Your Profile Lock PIN is a separate setting from your Netflix account password. To change your login password, use Netflix’s password settings rather than the Profile Lock setting.
