For just $1597.99, down from Amazon's typical price of $1697.99, the S5II puts full-frame photography and extensive video controls in one camera. The practical draw is its combination of subject tracking, stabilization and recording features for people who switch between stills and video.

What You're Getting

• 24.2MP full-frame capture. The mirrorless camera pairs that resolution with unlimited 4:2:2 10-bit recording for a mix of photography and video work.
• Phase Hybrid Autofocus. Subject detection and metering support focus in adverse lighting, with tracking that follows a locked subject even among multiple moving objects.
• Active I.S. Panasonic's stabilization technology supports walking shots, making it relevant to video sequences recorded while moving through a scene.
• Color controls. V-Log/V-Gamut capture offers 14+ stops of dynamic range, while REAL TIME LUT enables in-camera color grading for photos and video.
• Unlimited video recording. A small fan and high-efficiency heat sink disperse heat while keeping the camera compact. Recording options include 6K 30p Open Gate.

Who This Is For

The S5II suits photographers who also shoot video and creators whose work includes moving subjects or walking footage. Its in-camera grading tools are particularly relevant if applying a color treatment during capture is part of your workflow. Buyers planning longer recordings also have a clear reason to consider its cooling design.
