When the predictive text on your Vivo X200 Pro stops working, it can turn a simple text message into a chore. You might find the word suggestions have vanished, autocorrect is making bizarre changes, or the keyboard just feels less intelligent than it should. The good news is this is almost always a software hiccup you can fix yourself.

I'd start with a quick restart of your phone. Press and hold the power button for about 12 seconds until you see the Vivo logo reappear. This simple step clears out temporary glitches in Funtouch OS 15 and often brings predictive text back to life instantly.

Clear the Keyboard App's Cache

If a restart didn't do the trick, the next step is to clear the keyboard's cache. This gets rid of temporary data files that might have become corrupted. It won't delete your personal dictionary or settings.

Go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps. Tap the search icon and look for "Vivo Input Method" or "iManager" depending on your region's software. Once you find it, tap on it and select Storage usage. Here, you'll see an option to Clear cache. Give that a tap.

Check Your Keyboard Settings

Sometimes the feature is just accidentally turned off. Open any app that uses the keyboard, like Messages, and bring up the keyboard. Look for a settings icon (often a gear) on the keyboard's top bar and tap it.

Navigate through the settings menu to find the predictive text or smart typing section. Make sure the toggle for Predictive text or Word suggestions is switched on. While you're there, verify that the correct language is selected, like English (US).

Update Your System and Keyboard

Outdated software can cause features to malfunction. Vivo releases updates for Funtouch OS that include fixes for the native keyboard. Head to Settings > System update to check for any available downloads.

It's also worth checking the Google Play Store for updates to the Vivo keyboard component. Open the Play Store, tap your profile picture, go to Manage apps & device, and see if there are updates pending. Installing the latest version can resolve known bugs.

Reset the Keyboard to Default

If predictive text is still broken, resetting the keyboard app can clear deeper configuration errors. This will erase any custom dictionary words you've added and reset your keyboard preferences to factory default.

Go back to Settings > Apps > Manage apps and find the Vivo Input Method app again. This time, instead of just clearing the cache, tap Storage usage and then select Clear data or Manage data. Confirm that you want to reset the app. Afterward, you'll need to go through the keyboard's initial setup again.

Try a Third-Party Keyboard

If the native Vivo keyboard continues to have issues, using an alternative from the Play Store is a reliable workaround. Apps like Gboard (Google Keyboard) or SwiftKey are excellent options with robust predictive text engines.

Download your chosen keyboard, then go to Settings > System management > Language & input > On-screen keyboard. Tap Manage on-screen keyboards and enable your new keyboard. You can then set it as your default input method. This often immediately solves the problem while you wait for a future Vivo update.
