Xbox CEO Asha Sharma told a fan that the team is working on something similar to a "Platinum"-style completion achievement system, with the feature reportedly slated to arrive later this year. The confirmation came in response to a question about whether Microsoft would implement a PlayStation-style platinum trophy equivalent for its Achievements system.

Sharma's answer, "Team is working on something for later this year!" was shared on X (Twitter) after a user asked about the long-requested feature. The Xbox CEO stopped short of announcing exactly when the system would launch, per coverage of the exchange.

The feature would give Xbox players a reward for achieving 100% completion in games, an answer to PlayStation's platinum trophy system that has been missing from Microsoft's ecosystem. Xbox games typically come with 1,000 Gamerscore to earn per title, but currently there's no special recognition for acquiring all of the achievements.

One complication noted in the discussion is that many games receive extra achievements post-launch, which would remove a player's "100%" completion status. Fans have speculated whether the platinum-style award would simply require hitting the base 1,000 Gamerscore in a title, but no details on the implementation have been revealed.

The announcement arrived alongside a rollout of new Xbox console features for Insiders, including voice chat support in game captures and improved ways to browse and track achievements. Users can now sort games by name, completion percentage, Gamerscore earned, and number of achievements unlocked.

That update is rolling out now for Xbox Insiders and will be available to everyone else later. The Insider release also includes new ways to access achievements, more control over cloud saves, and keeps more games on wish lists.

Earlier this year, Xbox rolled out several improvements to Achievements, including refreshed visuals and interface enhancements. The company has been acting on top feedback requests from its Xbox Feedback site throughout 2026.

Sharma took over as Xbox CEO earlier this year, with one of her first big moves being a "reset" of the Xbox business to help it return to profitability and growth. This latest confirmation is part of her broader effort to fulfill specific player requests.

A potential hurdle for retroactive implementation exists, as analysis by Push Square suggests tens of thousands of games are already available on Xbox without a platinum-style trophy. How Microsoft handles that existing library remains an open question as players wait for the feature to land later this year.
