TRM Labs secured $70 million in Series C funding at a $1 billion valuation, the blockchain intelligence firm announced February 4. Blockchain Capital led the round, which included Goldman Sachs, Citi Ventures, and Brevan Howard Digital as returning investors.

The funding brings TRM's total capital raised to $220 million. Previous rounds included $14 million in June 2021, $60 million in December 2021, and $70 million in November 2022.

TRM will use the capital to expand its team of AI researchers, data scientists, and engineers. The company plans to advance AI-powered compliance tools and strengthen investigative capabilities that link on-chain and off-chain activity.

TRM said revenue growth has averaged more than 150% annually over the past five years, reflecting rising demand for blockchain intelligence as economic activity moves on-chain.

TRM said its tools are used by law enforcement and national security agencies in more than 50 countries.

Private-sector customers include Circle, Coinbase, PayPal, Robinhood, Stripe, and Visa. These institutions use TRM's platform to monitor cryptocurrency transactions for fraud, money laundering, sanctions evasion, and other illicit activities.

"At TRM, we're building AI for problems that have real consequences for public safety, financial integrity and national security," said CEO Esteban Castaño. "This funding allows our world-class team to innovate alongside institutions on the front lines of the most consequential threats."

The company's analytics platform combines blockchain data with machine learning to score risks in real time. It offers transaction monitoring, wallet screening, and forensic tracing capabilities that help institutions meet anti-money-laundering regulations.

Founded in 2018, TRM addresses growing risks associated with on-chain financial activity. Its platform helps organizations track blockchain transactions linked to ransomware groups, terrorist financing, transnational organized crime, and large-scale fraud operations.

The investment comes as illicit actors increasingly use automation, programmatic money laundering, and AI-driven social engineering techniques. TRM describes its operating environment as "high-consequence" where accuracy and defensibility are critical.

New investor Galaxy Ventures joined the round alongside returning participants CMT Digital, Bessemer Venture Partners, Y Combinator, Alumni Ventures, DRW Venture Capital, and Thoma Bravo. Blockchain Capital previously led TRM's pre-seed investment in 2018.

The funding round values the company at $1 billion, establishing TRM as a major player in the blockchain intelligence sector. The company competes in a market where regulatory scrutiny of cryptocurrency transactions has intensified globally.

TRM's growth reflects broader trends in financial technology, where AI-driven compliance solutions are becoming essential infrastructure. As cryptocurrency adoption expands, demand for transaction monitoring and risk assessment tools continues to accelerate.
