Spotify users can now watch full video episodes of two long-running Genius series, Open Mic and Verified, directly on the streaming platform. The partnership puts both shows on their own Spotify show pages, where the episodes are viewable. The first new Open Mic installment is already available and features rapper Rapsody performing "Pick A Side" from her album God Gotta Afro & Gold Hoops.
The two series have been running since 2016 and have together drawn more than 3.7 billion views. Open Mic's archival episodes include performances from Bebe Rexha, Rod Wave and Teddy Swims. Verified's inaugural episode featured Mac Miller, Zara Larsson and 21 Savage, and the series has since hosted Alicia Keys, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Lorde, Cardi B, Chance the Rapper and Phoebe Bridgers.
New Open Mic episodes will arrive on Thursdays at 11 a.m. ET. Verified releases are scheduled for Wednesdays and Fridays at the same time. Magnus Ferrell talks through his song "Asleep Talking" this week, and a September 11 episode has JISOO unpacking her track "Click".
The Verified expansion on Spotify follows what the company describes as a successful initial rollout of the series on the platform. Spotify did not disclose pricing or subscription terms for the video episodes, and it gave no detail on regional availability. It also did not say how many episodes make up the backlog or how large the archive will be.
The Genius deal is the latest in a run of music and video pushes from Spotify. In early September the company announced its first-ever standalone R&B concert, RNB X Live in Dallas with Live Nation, set for November 1 at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory. Days earlier it said the Soul Train Awards would return to television this fall, taped in Chicago, with Spotify as exclusive music streaming partner.
Spotify has also been building out its video infrastructure. In May it said it would adopt Apple's HLS video technology for creator platforms, covering Spotify for Creators and Megaphone. Apple had deployed HLS for Apple Podcasts in February 2026, and Spotify's distribution API went live for partners including Libsyn, Podigee, Audioboom, Audiomeans and Podspace. The company also lowered its Partner Program thresholds, cutting the listener requirement from 2,000 to 1,000 and the episode requirement from 12 to 3.
Video podcasting is already a large draw on the platform. Spotify counted more than 390 million users who had streamed a video podcast as of November 2025, across a catalog of over 530,000 video podcast shows. The Genius partnership extends that video-first approach to two established music interview and performance franchises rather than to podcasters alone.
