Razer introduced the Razer Kraken Kitty V3 today, bringing stream-responsive lighting to a wired headset with a fixed USB Type-C cable for compatible PCs and mobile devices. Its illuminated kitty ears and earcups can respond to audience activity, while a portable power bank can keep the lights running away from a desk. Razer has not disclosed a price.

The headset uses the Razer HyperClear Cardioid Mic, which Razer says emphasizes the wearer's voice while cutting background noise during broadcasts and voice conversations. Audio comes through Razer TriForce 40 mm Drivers, with a three-part construction that the company says helps separate game sounds, speech and other audio. Razer also includes 7.1 Surround Sound for positional audio during play.

Lighting customization runs through Razer Chroma RGB, with a palette of 16.8 million colors for the ears and earcups. The Streamer Companion app lets users set lighting responses to chat activity, alerts and emotes, connecting the headset's appearance to events during a stream. Razer positions those effects as a way for creators to reflect their on-stream persona and interact with viewers.

For cosplay and convention use, the fixed cable connects to a portable power bank to supply the RGB lights. Three lighting presets stored on the headset let wearers change colors and effects while away from their streaming setup. Razer describes this use as extending the headset to community events and costumes, with lighting users can match to an outfit or character.

The ear cushions combine leatherette with fabric, a construction Razer says supports comfort over longer gaming sessions and livestreams. The company also attributes passive noise isolation to those cushions. For compatible computers and mobile hardware, Razer describes the USB Type-C connection as supporting plug-and-play operation.

The new model follows September's Razer Kraken V4 X Sensa HD Haptics Edition, another wired headset that Razer said adds physical feedback in more than 100 supported PC games. That earlier headset also paired 40 mm drivers with 7.1 Surround Sound and a Razer HyperClear Cardioid Mic, so the two models list some of the same audio hardware.
