Qualcomm has officially started teasing two next-gen flagship processors, confirming that two Snapdragon 8 Elite series chips are on the way. The company posted a video on social media promoting the debut of "Dual 8 Elites" and "twice the options" on September 22.
The teaser did not name either chip. Qualcomm said the pair have the latest connectivity tech, "extraordinary" GPU performance, and "immersive" gaming experiences, but it did not reveal any further details about the processors.
According to Android Authority, previous leaks point to the names Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. Android Headlines also describes those as the rumored names and states plainly that Qualcomm has not confirmed them.
Leaked specifications reported by Android Authority describe the Pro chip as having a 2nm TSMC design, an octa-core Oryon CPU in a 2+3+3 layout, an Adreno 850 GPU with 18MB of dedicated memory, and support for LPDDR6 RAM. The standard chip is said to use a 3nm design, an octa-core Oryon CPU in the same configuration presumably running at a lower clock speed, an Adreno 845 GPU with 12MB of dedicated memory, and support for LPDDR5X RAM. None of those specifications are official.
The chips are due to be unveiled at Snapdragon Summit 2026, which runs from September 22 to September 24. Android Headlines expects the new silicon to power flagship smartphones in 2027, and possibly in late 2026 as well.
