PS Plus Free Games This Month

Through Monday, August 31, the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games are Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition for PS5 and PS4, Big Walk for PS5, and Signalis for PS4. From Tuesday, September 1 they are replaced by the September lineup below.

The August Monthly Games

Sony's official August announcement sets the claim window from August 4 through August 31. The live PlayStation Plus monthly games page identifies the lineup as available with any PlayStation Plus plan and says claimed Monthly Games remain playable for as long as the membership is active.

Dying Light 2 is the largest time commitment in this month's group. The PlayStation Blog description places its action in a hostile post-apocalyptic city and confirms support for hosting or joining a campaign with up to three other players.

Big Walk is the multiplayer-first choice. Sony's current page says players can gather up to 11 friends, while the announcement explains that communication tools and cooperative problem solving are central to the game.

Signalis is the focused solo option. It is listed as a PS4 Monthly Game, and Sony describes it as a puzzle-heavy survival horror story involving a technician Replika searching for her lost partner.

Four games are confirmed for September

Sony's September Monthly Games announcement confirms a September 1 through October 5 availability window.

Sniper Elite: Resistance offers a cooperative campaign, Axis Invasion, competitive multiplayer, and a survival mode. MLB The Show 26 is the only PS5-only game in the set. Wobbly Life supports solo play and up to four players online or in local split-screen, while Chained Echoes is a single-player role-playing game.

Do not wait for the September set to appear before claiming August's games. Sony explicitly gives members until August 31 to add Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition, Big Walk, and Signalis to the library.

August additions for Extra and Premium

Monthly Games and the Game Catalog are separate benefits. The August Game Catalog announcement says Helldivers 2 joined for Extra members on August 12. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and Vampire Survivors followed on August 18.

The same official list added Hell is Us, Umamusume Pretty Derby Party Dash, Two Point Museum, Metro Exodus, and Dying Light 2 on August 25 in the United States, United Kingdom, and Japan. Extra and Premium members can access Game Catalog titles while those games remain in the service.

Premium also received Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams and Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Sony identifies the first as a title originally released on PS2 and the second as an original PlayStation game presented with up-rendering, rewind, quick save, and video filters.

Sony's August Game Catalog announcement did not publish a departure list. That is important because Game Catalog access works differently from a Monthly Game claim. Catalog games can have published service exit dates even if they were previously downloaded.

How Monthly Games access works

PlayStation Plus currently has Essential, Extra, and Premium plans. The official plan comparison shows that all three include Monthly Games. Extra adds the Game Catalog, while Premium also includes the Classics Catalog, game trials, and supported cloud-streaming benefits.

A Monthly Game must be added to the account during its stated claim window. Sony says those games remain accessible for as long as the PlayStation Plus membership stays active. The company separately warns that Game Catalog and Classics Catalog games can leave the service on announced end dates.

Sony's cadence guide says the Essential refresh occurs on the first Tuesday of each month, with another Extra and Premium catalog refresh in the middle of the month. The confirmed September 1 start follows that first-Tuesday schedule.
