Circana analyst Mat Piscatella says seven PlayStation games have sold more than 100,000 physical copies in the United States so far in 2026. The figure covers PlayStation games broadly and should not be narrowed to PS5-only sales.

Piscatella also wrote on Bluesky that two PlayStation games sold more than 10,000 physical units in the United States during the week ending July 11, 2026.

The data adds context to Sony's decision to stop producing discs for new PlayStation releases starting in January 2028. Sony says the change will not affect games released, or scheduled for release, on disc before that date.

A chart Piscatella posted on Bluesky in June projects US consumer spending on physical games falling to $1.6 billion in 2026 from $11.5 billion in 2009. He has argued that comments alone are unlikely to reverse the industry's shift and that purchasing behavior carries more weight.

The seven-game figure shows how few titles cross a major physical-sales threshold. It does not mean every other copy was bought digitally, and it does not identify the seven games.
