Netflix has secured exclusive rights to the FIFA World Cup 2030™ in Spain and Andorra, with plans to stream all 104 matches live for viewers in those two countries. The tournament marks football’s World Cup centenary, and Spain will enter as defending champion while sharing hosting duties with Portugal and Morocco.

Viewers in Spain will have a free route to some of the football despite Netflix’s exclusive rights: the agreement provides for one free match on each matchday. A national free-to-air broadcaster will also be able to carry a selection that includes every game involving Spain, the two semi-finals and the final. Netflix says further details on its free-to-air partnership will come nearer the tournament.

Netflix plans to build its live coverage around a Spanish viewpoint, with shows before kickoff, during halftime and after matches. It also intends to offer a daily recap on days when games take place, plus additional programming ahead of the competition.

The hosting arrangements extend beyond the three main host nations, with Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay each staging centenary celebration matches. The anniversary commemorates the first World Cup, held in Uruguay in 1930, a century before this edition. Spain’s involvement combines a place among the hosts with the defense of its World Cup title.

Netflix already has rights for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 and 2031 covering viewers in Canada and the U.S. Its broader live sports offering includes MLB and WWE alongside NFL programming, boxing and MMA. The company’s Spanish sports documentaries include Carlos Alcaraz: My Way and LALIGA: All Access, covering sporting figures and competition in the country.

The expansion follows a separate agreement making Netflix WWE’s exclusive streaming destination in Japan from October 1. That deal covered weekly wrestling shows, major events and archive material across every Netflix plan without an additional charge. Netflix also began filming a documentary feature about Marta, following her preparations for her final FIFA World Cup with the Brazilian National Team in Brazil in 2027.
