Macworld reported that strings in the fourth developer beta of iOS 27 refer to an iPhone with multiple internal batteries. MacRumors says it confirmed the plural Battery Health wording in the beta.
Current iPhones use singular battery language in Settings. The new strings refer to the health and service status of "batteries," which indicates that Apple is preparing software support for an iPhone with more than one battery cell.
The code does not name that device. The link to a specific product comes from earlier reporting: 9to5Mac says the strings support a claim from Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station that Apple's rumored foldable iPhone Ultra will use two internal battery cells, a layout that is common on foldable phones but would be a first for the iPhone. MacRumors reports that the same rumor places one cell in each half of the device. Neither outlet treats the code as confirmation of a product name.
Apple has not announced an iPhone Ultra or confirmed its battery design, capacity, service options, or release date. The beta code supports the narrower conclusion that Apple is developing software for an iPhone with multiple batteries.
