Google's December Pixel update delivers 33 bug fixes alongside Android 16 QPR2, addressing battery display issues, fingerprint unlock problems, and display glitches across 18 device models.

The update began rolling out December 2 and will continue through the week in phases. It covers Pixel 6 through Pixel 10 series devices, including the Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, all Pro variants, and 'a' series models (Pixel 6a, 7a, 8a, 9a). Unlike recent monthly updates, this release includes the Pixel 6 series.

Two battery-related fixes target persistent issues affecting Pixel 6 and later models. One resolves a blank or question mark appearing in the battery status bar instead of percentage readings. The second corrects the 80% charge limit setting that was being ignored in certain conditions.

Display improvements address multiple problems on newer devices. Pixel 10 series screens should no longer flash, remain black, hang, or freeze. Pixel 10 Pro Fold specifically receives a fix for inner display flickering or black screens when launching certain games.

The update includes 33 functional patches across 12 categories: Audio, Battery & Charging, Bluetooth, Camera, Display & Graphics, Framework, Sensors, System, Telephony, Touch, User Interface, and Wi-Fi. Specific fixes address fingerprint unlock failures on Pixel 9 and later models, audio crashes on Pixel 9 series, and Bluetooth connection issues on Pixel 6 and later.

Security patches resolve 51 vulnerabilities in the Android 16 December patch dated 2025-12-01, with 56 additional fixes in the 2025-12-05 patch. These range from High to Critical severity. Google's dedicated bulletin lists 28 additional security fixes for Pixel devices.

The December update also marks the stable release of Android 16 QPR2, Google's second major Android 16 build this year. This follows several months of beta testing and includes nine new features previewed through beta builds.

New features include AI-powered notification summaries, a notification organizer, custom icon shapes and themed icons, expanded dark theme options, and enhanced parental controls. These additions represent Google's promised 2025 update cadence delivering substantial feature improvements alongside security maintenance.

Users can check for the update by navigating to Settings > System > Software updates > System update. The phased rollout means some devices may not receive the update immediately, with distribution continuing through December 9.

The comprehensive bug fix list addresses issues reported by Pixel users throughout 2025, particularly display and battery problems affecting newer models. Google's simultaneous delivery of security patches, bug fixes, and feature updates demonstrates the company's integrated approach to Android maintenance on its flagship devices.
