Google today introduced the Gemini agent for work, including the ability to create team agents with their own Google Workspace accounts to handle shared assignments. Google says Gemini can coordinate meetings, produce financial models and prepare presentations across Workspace apps while retaining project context between tasks. Specializations for Financial Services and Legal are now in preview.
A team can describe the role it needs, and Gemini creates a coworker agent with a separate email address, calendar and Drive, plus an entry in the company directory. Colleagues can bring that agent into Chat conversations or tag it in document comments to request work, with its edits recorded under its own identity. Google says these agents can access only material shared with them, using existing team membership and sharing permissions.

For individual assistance, Google says Gemini can identify meeting participants from a previous event conversation and Chat membership, check schedules and begin coordinating by email, including with people outside the organization. Workspace Intelligence also identifies requests that users could delegate, such as an emailed assignment to prepare project slides, and offers a click to hand them over. Google says it can prioritize inbox messages by importance and explain its choices.
Google is also adding data capabilities that let engineers request an outcome in ordinary language and have Gemini write PySpark code, supply editable notebooks, train models and address pipeline problems. Business users can request operational reports through BigQuery and Knowledge Catalog, with saved queries available to rerun without token charges. Knowledge Catalog supplies business definitions and schema context, and Google says Bloomberg Media improved SQL query accuracy by 63% during initial development by grounding its agents there.
Gemini for Financial Services includes more than 50 foundational skills and draws on sources including SEC filings and proprietary company repositories for research, credit assessment and risk models. Google says it provides confidence scores, methodologies, data lineage and citations, and is already used by CME Group and Deutsche Bank. For legal work, Gemini carries over document permissions and ethical walls from platforms including iManage, while Cooley is building a redaction agent on Gemini Enterprise for Legal.
The Workspace expansion follows September's opening of study notebooks in Gemini to work and school accounts, where access required administrators to enable both Gemini Notebook and the Gemini app. That earlier feature supported lessons and quizzes based on uploaded study materials and initially excluded Workspace users in the European Economic Area. Google says industry specializations for Government, Healthcare and Retail will follow the Financial Services and Legal previews.
