Google is expanding Gmail’s AI Inbox to paid Google Workspace users, offering suggested tasks and summaries to help them catch up on email. Google says the feature identifies work requiring attention and pulls together important updates from conversations.

The Rapid Release rollout began October 12, 2026, while Scheduled Release domains are scheduled to begin receiving access on October 26, 2026. Each rollout can take up to 15 days before the feature becomes visible. Access currently requires users to be in the US with EN-US set as their language.

Eligible editions include Frontline Plus, AI Pro for Education, and the Starter, Standard and Plus tiers of both Business and Enterprise. Despite that eligibility list, Google says Starter and Education editions will receive AI Inbox later, in the coming months.

Suggested to-dos identifies deadlines, deliverables and actions within email exchanges, which Google says can reduce the need to search threads or take notes manually. Topics to catch up on summarizes discussions spanning multiple messages, helping users review decisions and changes in status.

Eligible users can open AI Inbox through Gmail on desktop or from the menu in its mobile app. Administrators have no control for this feature. Google introduced AI Inbox earlier this year before extending it to paid Workspace accounts.
