Google is expanding ads in AI Mode to 10 countries, bringing sponsored results to more people using its conversational search experience. The company is also launching multiturn ads in the U.S., allowing advertising to appear when users ask follow-up questions in AI Mode.

The expansion covers India, Australia and Canada, as well as Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. Ads in AI Mode are also expanding in Pakistan, New Zealand, Nigeria and Kenya. Google plans to bring them to more locales in the fourth quarter of 2026, with the United Kingdom, Brazil and Mexico among those planned.

Google says ads will carry a Sponsored label and that it will keep experimenting with advertising formats to make them useful and relevant. Sponsored product list items already draw click-through rates similar to those of organic product list items within AI Mode, according to Google. The company also says its own research found that users are comfortable seeing the ads and consider them highly relevant.

Google says queries in AI Mode average three times the length of traditional searches, and argues that AI helps it understand what users want and match them with businesses and services. The geographic expansion follows a separate April rollout of Gemini in Chrome across seven Asia-Pacific markets, including Australia, Singapore and the Philippines. That earlier rollout gave desktop users in all seven markets access to Gemini through a sidebar, while iOS availability initially excluded Japan.
