Forza Horizon 6 has gone gold, Playground Games confirmed today, with preloads now live on Xbox and PC just 11 days ahead of its May 19 global launch. The game is the first in the series to skip Xbox One entirely, and it arrives as the first major Xbox release under new Microsoft gaming leadership.

Preloading is available now for Xbox Series X|S and PC through the Xbox app, with Steam support coming soon. Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can download ahead of launch at no extra cost.

Those who buy the Premium Edition or Premium Upgrade get four days of early access starting May 15.

Storage requirements are steep. The Series X version demands 135GB of free space, the Series S needs 130GB, and the PC install clocks in at 160GB with a mandatory SSD. On Xbox Series X, players choose between a native 4K/30FPS Quality mode with enhanced visuals and a dynamic 4K/60FPS Performance mode using resolution scaling. Series S owners get 1440p/30FPS in Quality and 1080p/60FPS in Performance, both with dynamic scaling to maintain target frame rates. The game ships with nine radio stations spanning J-pop, drum and bass, electropop, rock, indie, hip-hop, synthwave, and classical. J-pop appears in a Forza Horizon title for the first time, reflecting the game's Japanese setting.

Playground Games says this entry features the largest track selection in series history and will release Spotify playlists for each station ahead of launch.

Long-time fans get rewarded with loyalty cars tied to their previous saves. After completing the Tokyo City introductory race, players receive free vehicles based on which Forza games they own: a 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray (Forza Motorsport), 2021 Mercedes-AMG ONE (Horizon 5), 2016 Aston Martin Vulcan (Horizon 4), 2016 Lamborghini Centenario LP 770-4 (Horizon 3), 2014 Lamborghini Huracán LP-610-4 (Horizon 2), or a 2013 Dodge SRT Viper GTS (the original Forza Horizon).

Everyone who preorders any edition gets an exclusive Ferrari J50.

New accessibility features include AutoDrive for hands-off navigation, Proximity Radar for collision avoidance, and a customizable High Contrast Mode that simplifies on-screen elements. A post-launch update will add American Sign Language and British Sign Language interpreters displayed in picture-in-picture during cinematics.

Forza Horizon 6 launches on Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 19. The PlayStation 5 version arrives later in 2026. The game is the first flagship Xbox title released under Asha Sharma, who took over leadership of Microsoft's gaming division and recently promised a "return to Xbox."
