BOOX is rolling out Firmware V4.3 in batches, bringing two-note editing to its ePaper notebooks and expanding the writing tools in Memo. The update also extends Talk Insights availability, with an ONYX Account providing daily allowances of five hours for transcription and 500,000 characters for AI Assistant responses. Users still waiting for the update can look for it under System Update in Settings.
Dual Notes supports viewing and editing a pair of notes, arranged horizontally or vertically, on notebooks including the Note Air6 C. A new Quick Access panel inside Notes lets users find, organize and connect notebooks while keeping their current notebook open. The Lasso tool can transfer material between notebooks, including handwritten content and text boxes, by dragging and copying it.
Talk Insights now reaches markets including Japan, Canada and the United States, along with Australia, Taiwan and South Korea. It recognizes speech across 14 languages and produces a live transcription that users can subsequently revise, copy or translate. BOOX says the feature can produce structured meeting minutes, while a handwriting area provides space for users to record their own key points.
Notes also gains optional Undo and Redo gestures that apply to strokes and other actions. Owners of BOOX active styluses, including InkSense Plus and InkSight, can configure the stylus button to select tools such as Eraser or Marker.
Memo gains seven brush choices, giving users more ways to write and highlight short notes or checklists. Its added Lasso tool allows handwritten material to be repositioned, resized or removed. Users can insert links pointing to websites, files or notes, and convert handwritten to-dos into Events or Reminders for their calendar.
Memo support also expands to devices with handwriting capability and a 6.13-inch screen, including Palma 2 Pro and the upcoming Palma 3. BOOX says this lets users consult their calendar and make brief handwritten entries without returning to Notes. New Calendar Memo widgets put Events or Reminders on the home screen.
Firmware V4.3 adds two screensaver styles through Settings. The Currently Reading option provides a visual reminder of the book a user is reading. BOOX also adds stickers for use with transparent screensavers.
