Apple's iOS 27 beta 5 is out, and the update tweaks the Liquid Glass slider so its most transparent setting now goes further than before. The change arrives alongside redesigned app icons and new Siri AI voice options in the latest developer build.
The new Liquid Glass slider in Settings lets users dial in their preferred transparency level, from highly transparent to heavily tinted or anywhere between. Beta 5 specifically expands the upper end of that range, giving anyone who prefers maximally see-through UI elements a more glass-like experience.
Apple's official release notes for the beta focus primarily on developer-facing fixes. The iOS and iPadOS 27 SDK supports apps for iPhone and iPad running beta 5, and the release resolves an issue where AirPods Max 2 firmware beta updates failed in iOS 27 Beta 1 and macOS 27 Beta 1.
Those updates are now supported in iOS 27 Beta 2 and macOS 27 Beta 2.
The beta also fixes an iPad bug where apps built with the iOS 27 SDK that set UIRequiresFullScreen saw the bounds of UIScreen.main change when the user resized the window. The SDK ships with Xcode 27, available from the Mac App Store.
