Apple has announced a set of updates to Apple Creator Studio, its collection of creative and productivity apps, with the biggest changes aimed at video editors and iPad users. Final Cut Pro and Motion on the Mac will let owners of iPhone 18 Pro footage apply Cinematic mode effects while they edit, according to the announcement. The company did not say when the updates arrive, what they cost, or which regions will get them.
For video work, the Cinematic mode effects can be applied to native iPhone 18 Pro video in both Final Cut Pro and Motion on Mac. Compressor, Apple's export tool, gains HEVC and MPEG-4 presets built for sharing clips on social platforms.
Pixelmator Pro gets attention on both the Mac and the iPad. The iPad version picks up Select and Mask, a tool previously available on the Mac, which is designed to keep fine detail intact along tricky edges such as hair or fur. Edge-refinement tools for advanced selections also come to the iPad app. On both platforms, Pixelmator Pro adds two template collections.
Subscribers to Apple Creator Studio will see new templates and themes in Keynote, Pages, and Numbers. Keynote's intelligent slide generation can create images tailored to a presentation automatically. People working in the three apps can also ask for access to a shared presentation, document, or spreadsheet. Pages on the Mac adds a Screen View mode intended for reading and focused writing, while Numbers picks up trigonometry, statistics, and logic functions.
Freeform receives a long list of changes. Boards now adapt to Dark Mode on their own, and folders let users group boards into collections and invite collaborators. Shortcuts automation can add content to a board. On visionOS 27, Freeform can bring several items from a board into the user's space and display 3D models as a group.
A new Podcasts category offers cover artwork sized for major podcast platforms. That addition sits alongside the template and theme updates as the more cosmetic side of the release.
The update follows Apple's September 22 refresh of its desktop hardware, when the Mac mini with M6 and M5 Pro chips and the Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra became available. Those machines start at $899 for the M6 Mac mini and $2,499 for the M5 Max Mac Studio, with education pricing from $799 on the Mac mini and $5,099 on the Mac Studio. Both ship with macOS 27, which arrived alongside a wave of more than 250 changes Apple previewed for iOS 27 and macOS this fall.
