Anthropic today committed $150 million over three years to expand federal scientists’ access to Claude through the Genesis Mission. The effort will reach more than 15 participating agencies, with NASA, the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health among them. The Genesis Mission is a federal effort that uses AI to speed advances in science and technology.

Anthropic plans to supply several hundred research projects with credits for API access, alongside Claude and Claude Code. Its pledge also covers help for scientists learning to use those tools, including training and technical assistance. The company says it will help agencies joining the Genesis Mission get their initial research projects underway.

Fusion energy and quantum computing are among the administration’s scientific priorities that Anthropic plans to work on with participating agencies and national laboratories. The company says its goal is to help federal researchers make meaningful progress on difficult scientific problems using Claude. Anthropic also endorsed the administration’s position that AI can substantially benefit scientific discovery.

The commitment expands a relationship Anthropic first disclosed in December with the US Department of Energy and the Genesis Mission. Since that partnership began, the company says it has worked with the department to give scientists at national laboratories access to Claude. Anthropic presented the new pledge at the Science: A New Golden Age Summit in Washington, DC, hosted by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

The federal commitment follows Anthropic’s earlier Claude Science launch, which offered a research workbench rather than a separate AI model. That workbench connected researchers to more than 60 scientific databases and included tools for chemistry, genomics and protein structure analysis. Its beta was available to Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise subscribers, while an accompanying offer supported up to 50 projects with credits worth up to $30,000 each.

Anthropic’s other scientific research efforts this year included opening 10,000 Claude seats for academics on free or discounted terms. It also widened AI for Science, its program offering research credits for projects the company considers high impact. Separately, Anthropic began a research preview of the Model Hardware Standard, a common specification intended to let AI agents operate laboratory instruments safely.
