Google is rolling out a new Tap to Share feature for Android that lets Pixel owners exchange files by physically tapping their phones together. The feature arrives August 12, 2026 on Pixel 6 and newer devices, with Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 support coming soon.
The system works through Quick Share, letting eligible devices send contact info, photos, videos, and other content with a tap. From the home screen, users bring two compatible Android devices close together for an instant two-way exchange.
For photos and videos specifically, the process requires opening the phone's Share Sheet before tapping the devices together.
Google says the feature is especially convenient for swapping contact information, and plans to expand Tap to Share to more Android devices by the end of the year. The rollout starts with Pixel hardware before broadening to the wider Android ecosystem.
