Want to watch a YouTube video without logging into Google? Unrestricted public videos are available in a signed-out browser, and supported YouTube apps offer signed-out or guest viewing. Start with the browser option below, then find the steps for your phone or TV.
Start with YouTube in a signed-out browser
On a computer, go straight to YouTube to watch unrestricted public videos.
- 1.Open youtube.com in your browser.
- 2.If you’re signed in, click your profile picture, then Sign out.
- 3.Search for a video, open a public channel or playlist, or paste a shared video URL into the address bar.
- 4.Select the video to play it.
Keep your regular browser signed in with a private window
Use a private window when you want to watch without using your regular browser’s Google session. Browser private mode needs no initial Google login.
In Chrome on a computer, select More > New Incognito window. The shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+N on Windows, Linux, and ChromeOS, or Command+Shift+N on Mac.
If you already signed in inside Chrome Incognito, close all Incognito windows first. Closing just the YouTube tab does not necessarily end the private session.
Open a fresh Incognito window using the same menu or shortcut.
Using Safari on Mac? Choose File > New Private Window.
In Microsoft Edge, select Settings and more > New InPrivate window.
In Firefox, open the menu and choose New private window.
Open youtube.com or your video link in the private window without signing in.
Watch in your phone or tablet’s browser
Open your phone or tablet’s browser. YouTube’s mobile website requires JavaScript to be enabled.
Enter youtube.com or paste the video’s URL into the address bar.
Keep the video in the browser with YouTube signed out.
Search for the public video you want to watch.
Select the video to play it.
For a private session in Chrome on Android, choose More > Open in a new Incognito window. On Android tablets, the option also appears as New Incognito window.
In Chrome on iPhone or iPad, choose More > New Incognito Tab.
In Safari on iPhone, choose More > New Private Tab.
In Safari on iPad, touch and hold the Tabs button.
Tap New Private Tab.
Open youtube.com or your video link in your chosen private session without signing in.
Tip: On Android, browser viewing avoids removing your device’s Google account, which also signs that account out of other Google apps, including Gmail and Maps.
Use the signed-out option in the iPhone or iPad app
The YouTube app on iPhone and iPad lets you watch signed out without removing your saved account.

- 2.Tap Accounts.
- 3.Choose Use YouTube signed out.
- 4.Search for or open the public video you want to watch.
Switch to guest viewing on a TV or console
Guest mode provides signed-out viewing on supported TVs, streaming devices, and game consoles.
At the Who’s Watching? screen, select Guest. YouTube also uses the label Watch as guest.
If an account is already open, select the profile picture in the left navigation.
Open Accounts.
Select Guest.
Enter the configured four-digit parent code if requested. This code is separate from a Google password.
Search for a public video.
Select the video to start watching.
Handle videos that still require sign-in
A public video isn’t automatically available to signed-out viewers. Age-restricted videos require sign-in. YouTube also applies sign-in checks to certain content featuring minors and suspected downloading activity.
Private browsing and guest mode provide signed-out sessions. They do not remove these checks, and there is no universal supported bypass for an age check or a “confirm you’re not a bot” prompt.
Changing a video URL to an embed address is not a supported restriction bypass. YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embedded player does not remove sign-in or age restrictions either.
On a work or school device, contact the administrator if private or guest browsing is unavailable. Enabling those modes still won’t override a video’s restrictions.
If signed-out playback fails, try another unrestricted public video. When your chosen video requires sign-in, you must sign in and meet its access requirements to watch it on YouTube.
