Need to update Blink but aren’t sure where to tap? The update happens through your device’s app store. Here’s how to install it on iPhone, Android and Fire tablets, turn on automatic updates, and handle an installation that won’t finish.

Open the App Store. Then tap My Account or your profile photo. In the current interface, tap App Updates.

On iPhones running iOS 17 or iOS 18, scroll down the account screen to the pending updates instead. Tap Update beside Blink Home Monitor. Tip: Tap Update All to install all pending app updates at once.

On Android, use Google Play

Head to Google Play’s pending-updates screen to update Blink.

  1. 1.Open the Google Play Store.
  2. 2.Tap your profile icon.
  3. 3.Select Manage apps & device.
  4. 4.Under Updates available, tap See details.
  5. 5.Tap Update beside Blink Home Monitor, or choose Update all.

Check whether your device supports the update

An operating system below Blink’s minimum requirements prevents your device from qualifying for the current app. Compare your device’s operating system version with Blink’s current requirements: iOS 17 or later, Android 10 or later, or Fire OS 8. For Fire tablets, Blink specifies Fire OS 8 only.

Install a supported operating system version if your device offers one. Then update Blink Home Monitor through your app store. Updating the operating system restores eligibility when it meets those requirements; it doesn’t update Blink itself.

Use a supported device if yours cannot meet the requirements. Older minimums such as iOS 15, Android 9 and Fire OS 7 no longer apply.

Install the Fire tablet update

Use this method on a Fire tablet running Fire OS 8 with Blink installed through Amazon Appstore. Open Appstore. Next, search for Blink Home Monitor.

Open the Blink Home Monitor details page. Tap Update when it’s offered.

Turn on automatic updates for next time

On iPhone or iPad with the current Settings layout, open Settings > Apps > App Store. Turn on App Updates. On iOS 17, use Settings > App Store instead; this setting covers Blink and your other App Store apps.

To update only Blink automatically on Android, open Google Play Store > profile picture > Manage apps & device > Manage > Blink Home Monitor > More. Turn on Enable auto update.

For automatic updates across all your Google Play apps, open Google Play Store > profile picture > Settings > Network preferences > Auto-update apps. Choose Update over Wi-Fi only or Update all apps over Wi-Fi or mobile data, depending on your connection preference.

Reinstalling is a fallback for failed Android updates or Apple app problems that persist after checking for updates. On Android, open the Google Play Store. From there, tap your profile icon.

Open Manage apps & devices. Menu wording varies by device, and some removal steps require Android 13 or later. Select Manage. Choose Blink Home Monitor.

Tap Uninstall. Find Blink Home Monitor in the Google Play Store again. Reinstall Blink Home Monitor. Sign back into your existing Blink account.

On iPhone or iPad, delete Blink Home Monitor from your device. Deletion carries a risk of losing locally stored app data, so reserve this for troubleshooting. Redownload Blink Home Monitor from the App Store. Sign back into your existing Blink account.
