Your YouTube subscriptions fill up with channels you no longer watch, leaving you with a list that needs a cleanup. Removing a channel takes just two controls: Subscribed, then Unsubscribe. Start with the steps for your device below, or use your subscription list to work through several channels.
Unsubscribe in the YouTube app
These steps work on Android phones and tablets, iPhones, and iPads.

Remove a channel subscription on your computer
On the desktop website, you unsubscribe directly beneath a video.
Sign in to YouTube in your browser.
Open a video from the channel you want to remove.
Click Subscribed beneath the player.
Select Unsubscribe. YouTube displays a confirmation notification at the bottom of the screen.
Find the creator’s channel page
Use the channel page when you know the creator’s name but do not have a particular video open. This route works on the YouTube website and in the mobile apps.
Search for the creator in YouTube.
Open their channel from the results. If you already have one of their videos open, select the channel’s name instead.
Select Subscribed on the channel page. Button placement varies between the website and mobile apps.
Choose Unsubscribe.
Work through your mobile subscription list
Open the YouTube app.
Sign in to your account.
Tap Subscriptions.
Select All to find the channel you want to remove.
Open one of that channel’s videos.
Tap Subscribed beneath the player.
Choose Unsubscribe.
Repeat this sequence for each additional channel you want to remove.

Use a browser on your phone or tablet
The mobile website lets you unsubscribe without installing the YouTube app.
Open m.youtube.com in your browser.
Sign in to YouTube.
Open a video from the channel you no longer want to follow.
Tap Subscribed beneath the player.
Select Unsubscribe.
Ask Google Assistant on a compatible TV
Open the relevant channel or one of its videos in YouTube on a TV with supported Google Assistant integration.
Say “Hey Google, unsubscribe” or “OK Google, unsubscribe.” YouTube lists this command among its Google Assistant voice controls for TV, but not every smart TV includes Google Assistant. On eligible Google TV devices, Gemini for TV replaces Google Assistant, and Google says the Assistant commands you already use still work.
For a TV without supported Google Assistant integration, use the phone or computer steps above.
Handle a bigger subscription cleanup
YouTube’s official instructions remove channels one at a time and don’t document an Unsubscribe all control. To clean up your list, remove channels individually using the app or website.
You do not need browser-console scripts or mass-unsubscribe extensions for this. YouTube warns that extensions can make unwanted subscription changes.
If you cannot find a channel in your subscription list, search for the creator in YouTube. Open their channel page, select Subscribed, then choose Unsubscribe.
Manage channel subscriptions in YouTube Kids
YouTube Kids keeps a child’s channel subscriptions in a separate place. Unsubscribing does not prevent the child from subscribing again; blocking is a separate parental control for restricting access.
Open the child’s YouTube Kids profile.
Go to Watch it Again.
Locate the child’s channel subscriptions.
Use the unsubscribe option for the channel you want to remove.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does turning off notifications unsubscribe me from a channel?
No. Choosing None for notifications, changing notification settings, or unsubscribing from emails only controls alerts or emails. Remove the channel subscription with Subscribed, then Unsubscribe.
Does unsubscribing cancel a paid YouTube membership?
No. Ordinary channel subscriptions are separate from paid creator memberships, Primetime Channels, YouTube TV, and Premium. To cancel a paid creator membership on a computer, go to youtube.com/paid_memberships, select Manage membership, then Cancel. On an iPhone or iPad, use the same page, tap Manage membership, then Cancel membership & perks; if you joined in the iOS YouTube app, you can also cancel through Apple. On Android, tap your profile picture, then Purchases and memberships, select the membership, and tap Cancel membership & perks.
Will uninstalling YouTube or signing out remove my subscriptions?
No. Uninstalling the app, signing out, clearing history, and changing subscription privacy do not unsubscribe you from channels. Hiding your YouTube channel makes its subscriptions private; it does not serve as an unsubscribe-all control.
How do I unsubscribe from an artist’s channel?
Open the artist’s channel in YouTube. Select Subscribed, then Unsubscribe. For subscriptions consolidated into an Official Artist Channel, use that channel instead of looking for a subscribe button on the former topic or partner channel.
