Your iPhone alerts keep popping up on your Mac, even after you close iPhone Mirroring. One switch stops all mirrored notifications, while individual app controls let you keep the alerts you want. Calls and alerts from Mac apps have separate controls, so stopping those takes an extra change.

Turn off all mirrored iPhone notifications

On your Mac, open Apple menu > System Settings > Notifications > Allow notifications from iPhone.

Turn off Allow notifications from iPhone. Your iPhone will still receive its notifications.

This setting is available after you set up iPhone Mirroring on a compatible Mac running macOS Sequoia 15 or later, including Tahoe 26.

Closing iPhone Mirroring, unlocking your iPhone, or moving it away does not stop subsequent mirrored notifications. Use the notification switch to stop them.

Keep only the iPhone app alerts you want

Keep useful iPhone alerts on your Mac and switch off the apps you want to silence.

  1. 1.Open Apple menu > System Settings on your Mac.
  2. 2.Choose Notifications > Allow notifications from iPhone.
  3. 3.Leave Allow notifications from iPhone turned on.
  4. 4.Under Mirror iPhone Notifications From, turn off the individual apps you want to silence.

If you prefer to change settings on your iPhone

Use your iPhone to stop an app’s mirrored alerts while keeping its phone notifications. This option requires iOS 18 or later and a configured iPhone Mirroring connection.

On your iPhone, open Settings > Notifications.

Select the app you want to change.

Turn off Show on Mac to keep its notifications on your iPhone only.

For silence on both devices, turn off Allow Notifications instead. This disables the app’s iPhone notifications and its mirrored notifications on your Mac.

Pause interruptions with Do Not Disturb

Open Control Center in your Mac’s menu bar.

Select Focus > Do Not Disturb to temporarily silence Mac notifications, including mirrored alerts.

Choose a duration for the pause.

Review exceptions under System Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb. Allowed people, apps, and other exceptions can still interrupt.

For a quick toggle, hold Option while clicking the date and time in the menu bar.

When alerts still arrive after mirroring is off

Turning off mirroring does not turn off the Mac’s own app alerts, website notifications, or cellular-call relay.

For an app or website, open System Settings > Notifications on your Mac.

Select the app or website under Application Notifications.

Turn off Allow notifications. This controls alerts from Messages, FaceTime, installed companion apps, and independently authorized websites.

To stop relayed iPhone cellular calls, open Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on Other Devices on your iPhone.

Turn off your Mac in the device list.

To stop call relay to every device instead, turn off Allow Calls on Other Devices.

For the Mac-side alternative, open FaceTime > Settings > General.

Deselect Calls From iPhone to disable cellular-call relay to that Mac.

For just one noisy conversation, select it in Messages on your Mac.

Click the contact or group icon.

Enable Hide Alerts to mute that conversation.

To stop mentions from breaking through the mute, open Messages > Settings > General.

Deselect Notify me when my name is mentioned.

Remove iPhone Live Activities from the menu bar

On macOS Tahoe 26 or later, Live Activities have a separate switch after iPhone Mirroring is configured.

  1. 1.Open System Settings on your Mac.
  2. 2.Select Notifications > Allow notifications from iPhone.
  3. 3.Turn off Allow Live Activities from iPhone to stop all iPhone Live Activities from appearing on your Mac.

Disconnect iPhone Mirroring completely

Open the iPhone Mirroring app on your Mac to remove its access to your iPhone.

Choose iPhone Mirroring > Settings from the menu bar.

Click Revoke Access to [name of iPhone]. Receiving mirrored notifications again requires setting up the connection again.

To remove access from your iPhone instead, open Settings > General > AirPlay & Continuity > iPhone Mirroring.

Swipe left on your Mac’s name.

Tap Delete. This stops that Mac from receiving mirrored notifications and Live Activities.

During future iPhone Mirroring setup, choose Don’t Allow when asked about iPhone notifications to keep those alerts off your Mac.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can’t I find Allow notifications from iPhone on my Mac?

The setting appears after successful iPhone Mirroring setup. Mirroring requires macOS 15 or later, an Apple silicon or T2-equipped Mac, iOS 18 or later, and the same Apple Account with two-factor authentication. Apple currently lists iPhone Mirroring as unavailable in the European Union.

Does clearing notifications stop new ones from appearing?

No. Clearing existing alerts removes those alerts without disabling future delivery.

Can I hide just one iPhone Live Activity on my Mac?

Yes, on macOS Tahoe 26 or later. Click the Live Activity in the menu bar. Hover over its expanded view, then click the close button. This hides that activity without disabling future Live Activities.

Will turning off Text Message Forwarding stop every message on my Mac?

No. Standalone Text Message Forwarding controls SMS, MMS, and RCS forwarding, not iMessage. Apple also says forwarding is always on for devices using Messages in iCloud, so the standalone forwarding setting is not an independent off switch in that configuration.
