Disney+ rejects your location, shows Error 73, or says a title is unavailable where you are. An unsupported country and a VPN masking your connection call for different responses, while a missing movie or Household prompt needs its own check. Start with your physical location, then work through the connection and app fixes that match your screen.

Check whether Disney+ supports your current country

Start here when Disney+ says it is unavailable in your region or displays Error 73. Disney identifies an unsupported country or region as one cause of that error.

Check Disney’s Where is Disney+ available? page for the country where you are physically located, including when traveling. If that country’s status is unclear, confirm it with Disney+ support.

In an unsupported country, Disney’s instruction is to access the service from a supported country or region. There is no region-unlock menu that makes the service available there.

In a supported country, continue with the VPN checks below. Changing your app language, device region, or app-store billing country is not a Disney-supported fix for Error 73.

Turn off the VPN on your device

Disney recommends disabling VPNs and IP anonymizers. Open your VPN provider’s app and turn off the active connection. Switching the VPN to another country is not Disney’s fix.

On Android, turn off the connection through Settings > Network & internet > VPN > Settings beside that connection. Manufacturer labels vary; provider-controlled connections use the provider’s app.

On Windows 11, switch off VPN from the taskbar’s Network, Volume, or Battery area. With multiple connections, disconnect the active one through Manage VPN connections.

On a Mac, turn off the active service in Apple menu > System Settings > VPN. On iPhone or iPad, search Settings for VPN to find the configuration or provider app. Turn off its active VPN connection.

Check hidden connection protection that keeps the error coming back

A VPN or IP anonymizer masking your location is a cause of Error 73, including protection controlled outside your usual VPN app.

On Android, turn off Always-on VPN, where present, through the connection’s Settings under Settings > Network & internet > VPN.

On a Mac configured for automatic reconnection, open the active service’s information control under Apple menu > System Settings > VPN. Turn off Connect on demand when offered.

For a Chrome VPN or proxy extension, switch off the relevant extension under More > Extensions > Manage extensions. Unpinning its toolbar icon does not remove it.

For DisneyPlus.com playback in iPhone or iPad Safari with iCloud Private Relay, select Page Menu > Show IP Address when displayed. In Mac Safari, choose View > Reload and Show IP Address. These controls let the website see your actual IP address; their scope is Safari playback, not general Disney+ app troubleshooting.

Fully close Disney+ after changing the connection settings, or close the browser for web playback. Reopen Disney+ or the browser to retry.

Compare another internet connection if it still fails

Use this test when you are in a supported country and have disabled VPNs, but Disney+ still rejects your location. Keep the same device so the connection is the thing that changes.

Try Disney+ on another ordinary connection, such as mobile data instead of home Wi-Fi. Leave VPNs disabled during both tests.

If one connection works and the other fails, give that result to Disney+ support and the failing connection’s ISP or administrator. Ask them to investigate the connection, including routing and IP-location information; the comparison alone does not identify the cause.

For a home-network failure, turn off the streaming device. Turn off the modem. Turn off the router. Start the modem first.

Bring the router back on next. Turn on the streaming device. Reopen Disney+ to retry playback.

Refresh the app or browser session

If the location and connection checks leave an app or website problem, clear its stored data. This addresses application recovery and does not make an unsupported country eligible.

On Android phones and tablets exposing the control, select Settings > Apps > Disney+ > Storage > Clear Cache. On Fire TV, select Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Disney+ > Clear Cache.

For a deeper reset on those Android or Fire TV devices, select Clear Data in the same menu. On Google TV, select Settings > Apps > See all apps > Disney+ > Clear data. Clearing app data resets the local session; credentials and offline downloads are subject to removal.

In desktop Chrome, find DisneyPlus.com under More > Settings > Privacy and security > Third-party cookies > See all site data and permissions. Delete its entry with Delete > Delete. Sign in to Disney+ again after clearing app or website data.

Separate missing titles from Household checks

If only one title fails, try another locally available title. The Disney+ catalogue changes with the country you visit, and a title unavailable at your destination has no app-setting remedy.

For US subscribers, Hulu and ESPN content inside Disney+ is limited to the United States and its territories. Outside the US, Disney+ carries its own regional Hulu catalogue. Eligible live sports also have location requirements and blackout restrictions.

For titles missing only from a restricted profile, have the account owner select that profile under profiles > EDIT PROFILES. Open PARENTAL CONTROLS > Content rating.

Enter the account password. Choose the permitted rating. Select Save.

A Household prompt is separate from Error 73. If you are a legitimate Household member traveling, select I’M AWAY FROM HOME when the prompt offers it. Verify with the emailed one-time passcode. Use of this option is subject to limits.

For eligible EEA subscribers planning travel within the EEA, ask Disney+ live support before departure about home-country verification. Disney’s Polish procedure uses support assistance; confirm your eligibility with support.

If the relevant check does not resolve the missing title or Household prompt, contact Disney+ support about that specific symptom.

Update or reinstall a stubborn app

This addresses persistent app failures after the location and network checks. On Android, open Google Play Store > profile icon > Manage apps & device > Updates available > See details. Select Update beside Disney+ when offered.

On iPhone or iPad, open App Store. Select your photo or My Account. Open App Updates. Select Update beside Disney+ when listed.

If the updated iPhone or iPad app still fails, touch and hold Disney+. Select Remove App. Select Delete App. Choosing Remove from Home Screen does not uninstall it.

Confirm with Delete. Deleting the app removes downloaded Disney+ content. Restart the device. Redownload Disney+ from the App Store.

Sign in to Disney+. Retry playback.

Give Disney+ support the details that narrow it down

Contact Disney+ support if Error 73 persists in a supported country after disabling anonymizers, testing the connection, and restarting. Provide the exact error message, your actual country, and the affected device. Explain whether the same device works on another ordinary internet connection. Ask support to investigate the persistent region error.

For a work or school device with locked VPN controls, ask its administrator to review the policy. Alternatively, retry on an authorized personal device and network. Keep the network comparison handy so support knows whether the failure is confined to one connection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Chrome Incognito fix a Disney+ region error?

Incognito tests a fresh browser session, but it does not change your public IP address or disable a system VPN. Open More > New Incognito window in desktop Chrome, then open DisneyPlus.com and sign in. It cannot make an unsupported country available.

Does Disney+ need GPS permission to fix Error 73?

Location permission applies to certain eligible live sports when Disney+ requests it. It is not a general fix for Error 73, and precise location cannot remove a legitimate blackout.

Can I download Disney+ movies before traveling?

Yes, with an eligible regional plan, a downloadable title, and a supported iPhone, iPad, Android phone or tablet, or Fire tablet. Before departure, open the title and select Download. Wait for completion, then play it from Downloads. Eligibility and expiry rules vary by country, plan, and title.

Does the location shown in Manage Devices prove Disney+ has my country wrong?

No. Disney+ says the locations displayed in Manage Devices are approximate. That display alone does not establish that Disney+ is misidentifying your country for playback.
