You want to go live on Twitch, but the right setup depends on what you’re streaming from. A PC needs an encoder, PlayStation and Xbox can broadcast from the console, and Nintendo Switch needs a capture card because the Twitch app is gone. Start with the Twitch account setup, then jump to the device you’re using.
1. Turn on Twitch 2FA first
Twitch requires two-factor authentication before the broadcast flows covered here will work.

3. Choose Streamlabs or XSplit on PC

5. Broadcast from PlayStation

6. Stream from Xbox

Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One can stream downloaded console games to Twitch from the guide, but the provider app has to be on the console first: Store, Apps, then Install the Twitch app. To swap services later, open Capture & share, Live streaming, More options, and Change live streaming provider.
For webcam video, plug a supported USB webcam into the Xbox and allow camera use for live streaming when prompted. The same live-stream options control game audio, mic audio, party chat, resolution, and bitrate.

7. Connect a capture card for Nintendo Switch
Nintendo Switch has no current native Twitch broadcast app. Nintendo discontinued the Switch Twitch app on January 31, 2024, so Switch streaming now goes through a capture card and a PC encoder.
- 1.Dock the Switch, then connect the dock's HDMI OUT terminal to the capture card HDMI In port. Nintendo Switch Lite does not support TV Mode, so it cannot feed a capture card this way.
- 2.Connect the capture card to the PC over USB or PCIe.

Nintendo discontinued the Switch Twitch app on January 31, 2024. Twitch ended support for its desktop app in 2022.
