Need a break from someone's Facebook posts? Snooze hides their posts from your Feed for 30 days without notifying them. Here's how to start that break from a Feed post, whether you're snoozing a person, Page, or group.
Snooze someone from their Feed post
When someone's posts are crowding your Feed, Snooze gives you a temporary break from their updates.
Find a post from that person in your Feed.
Start with a post from the person whose updates you want to pause. The selected person is the target of Snooze, and the temporary pause applies to their posts in your Feed.
Click or tap Options (the three dots) at the top right of the post.
Select Snooze [Name] for 30 days to hide that person's posts from your Feed for 30 days.
Meta's current Help Center instructions give this same post-menu path, which dates back to Meta's original announcement of Snooze.
Look in the post menu if Snooze is missing
The place to start is a post in your Feed. That's the entry point Meta documents for Snooze.
If you cannot find Snooze on another screen, return to your Feed.
Try Options at the top right of a post from the person you want to snooze, then look for Snooze [Name] for 30 days.
Meta's Help Center gives this same post-menu path on the Facebook website and in the iPhone and Android apps.
If you are comparing these steps with older instructions, note that Meta's current instructions start Snooze from a post in your Feed. The Snooze list under Content preferences is where you end an existing snooze.
Give a Page or group a break too
Find a post from the Page or group in your Feed.
Open Options at the top right of the post.
Choose Snooze [Name] for 30 days, where the name is the Page or group, to hide its posts for 30 days.
Keep the target in mind: Snooze applies to the selected person, Page, or group, rather than just the individual post.
The same confirmed duration applies to Pages and groups as to people. Meta also says the selected Page or group is not notified when you snooze it.
For a group, the effect concerns posts appearing in your own Feed. Group moderation is a separate function, so Snooze should be understood as a personal Feed preference.
Keep Feed posts separate from Stories and messages
Using Feed Snooze to silence Stories or message alerts targets the wrong part of Facebook.
For a break from Feed posts, open Options at the top right of a post from the person, Page, or group.
Select Snooze [Name] for 30 days.
Stories use Story muting, and Messenger alerts use notification muting. Those are separate controls with separate purposes.
Match the control to the part of Facebook you want to quiet. Snooze covers the selected person's, Page's, or group's posts in your Feed for 30 days.
Unfollowing and blocking are also separate controls. Neither is the same as the temporary Feed Snooze feature, and their names should not be treated as interchangeable with Snooze.
Take a quiet break for 30 days
Snooze fits when you want a temporary pause in someone's Feed updates. Facebook does not notify the person, Page, or group you snooze.
When that 30-day break fits what you need, open Options at the top right of their Feed post.
Choose Snooze [Name] for 30 days to start the temporary pause.
No additional download or installation is part of this method. Snooze is built into Facebook.
Undo or end a Snooze early
Changed your mind right away? Select Undo in the confirmation message that appears after you snooze.
To end a snooze later on the Facebook website, click your profile picture at the top right, then click Settings & privacy and Content preferences. Select Snooze, then click End Snooze next to the profile, Page, or group.
In the iPhone or Android app, tap Menu, then Settings & privacy and Settings. Select Content preferences under Preferences, tap Snooze, then tap End Snooze next to the profile, Page, or group.
