You want YouTube TV, but the right sign-up path depends on the screen in front of you. A browser is the safest place to start, Android can also handle Base Plan checkout, and iPhone, iPad, Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, Samsung TV, and LG TV are mainly for watching after purchase. Follow the current Google-backed routes below and skip the old Apple billing and Roku workaround advice.

1. Start at tv.youtube.com for the cleanest signup

For most U.S. consumers, the browser flow is the direct route to a YouTube TV Base Plan.

  1. 1.Go to tv.youtube.com or tv.youtube.com/welcome.
  2. 2.Select the trial button shown on the page. In July 2026 it reads Try it for $0, and the wording changes with the current offer, which is why Google's own steps just say to select the button that begins the trial. If you would rather start from an existing session, select Sign in.
  3. 3.Sign in with the Google Account you want to use for YouTube TV.
  4. 4.Confirm your home location and home ZIP code. If the displayed area is wrong, select I don't live here, then enter your home ZIP code.
  5. 5.Review the YouTube TV Base Plan networks and price. In July 2026, Google showed the base plan at $82.99 per month plus tax, with promotional pricing varying by offer.
  6. 6.Select Next.
  7. 7.Select the square checkbox beside any add-on network you want.
  8. 8.Select Next.
  9. 9.Confirm the credit card.
  10. 10.Select Buy to complete the membership.

YouTube TV is available only in the United States. The home ZIP code and location check determine the local networks tied to your membership.

2. Use Android when you only need the supported checkout

  1. 1.Open the YouTube TV app on your Android phone or tablet.
  2. 2.Tap the button to begin the trial.
  3. 3.Sign in with your Google Account.
  4. 4.Confirm your home location or home ZIP code.
  5. 5.Review the YouTube TV Base Plan networks and price.
  6. 6.Select Next.
  7. 7.Tap the square checkbox beside each add-on network you want.
  8. 8.Select Next.
  9. 9.Confirm the credit card.
  10. 10.Select Buy.

The Android app can create a YouTube TV membership, but it is not the best path for every add-on. Use a web or mobile browser instead if you want 4K Plus, Entertainment Plus, Sports Plus, or AMC+ during Base Plan purchase. Google lists those add-ons as unavailable in the Android Base Plan purchase flow.

3. Claim a free trial through the normal checkout

A free trial is not a separate signup system. New subscribers use the standard YouTube TV checkout, choose the available trial or offer shown there, and enter a valid payment method.

Billing starts after the trial unless the membership is canceled. Trial length varies by network and offer, and add-on trial availability varies too, so use the checkout screen as the offer attached to your account.

4. Buy on the web before using iPhone or iPad

  • Install the YouTube TV app on iPhone (iOS 16 or later), iPad (iPadOS 16 or later), or Apple TV 4th generation or Apple TV 4K (tvOS 13 or later) when you are ready to watch.
  • Do the purchase in a web browser first.
  • Google says signup in the YouTube TV app on iPhone or iPad is no longer supported.
  • Older instructions about subscribing through Apple or App Store billing are obsolete because Apple in-app payment support ended in 2020.

5. Add NFL Sunday Ticket during signup

Use this path when you want YouTube TV and NFL Sunday Ticket together.

  1. 1.Go to tv.youtube.com.
  2. 2.Sign in with your Google Account.
  3. 3.Select START FREE TRIAL or SIGN UP.
  4. 4.With YouTube TV selected, select NEXT.
  5. 5.Select NFL Sunday Ticket.
  6. 6.Choose the payment plan and package options.
  7. 7.Select Checkout.
  8. 8.Complete the payment details.
  9. 9.Select Start membership.

NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube TV requires an active YouTube TV plan. NFL Sunday Ticket can also be purchased separately through YouTube Primetime Channels, but that purchase is not the same as signing up for YouTube TV.

6. Share with family before paying twice

  1. 1.The family manager signs in to YouTube TV.
  2. 2.The family manager selects the profile photo.
  3. 3.Go to Settings, then Family sharing.
  4. 4.Select Manage or Set up.
  5. 5.Select Get Started.
  6. 6.Create the family group.
  7. 7.Invite family members.
  8. 8.Each family member accepts the email invitation and signs in with their own Google Account.

If someone in your household already pays for YouTube TV, family sharing can be the right move instead of opening another membership. YouTube TV family sharing supports up to five family members in the same household. The family manager must be 18 or older, have a Google Account, live in the United States, and not be in another family group. If you are already in a family group and want your own YouTube TV membership, leave that family group first, then sign up at tv.youtube.com with your own Google Account.

7. Clear account and location blockers

Use a regular eligible Google Account because YouTube Brand Accounts are not compatible with YouTube TV. Switch to a different Google Account before checkout. For family groups, Google Apps for Business and G Suite accounts are not eligible; those are the older names for what Google now calls a Google Workspace account, so use a regular personal Google Account instead. During signup, enter your home ZIP code and allow location verification when prompted so YouTube TV can confirm United States availability and provide the correct local networks.

8. Install the TV app after your membership is active

  • Chromecast with Google TV: open Apps, search for YouTube TV, then select Install.
  • Android TV: open Google Play Store, search for YouTube TV, then select Download.
  • Apple TV: open App Store, search for YouTube TV, then select Download.
  • Roku: open Streaming Channels, select Search channels, search for YouTube TV, then select Download. Newer Roku home screens use Store or Search instead.
  • Fire TV: start Fire TV, search for YouTube TV, then select Download.
  • Samsung smart TV (2017 or newer models only): press Home, open Apps, find YouTube TV, then save it to the home screen. Update the TV firmware to the latest version if YouTube TV does not appear.
  • LG smart TV (2017 or newer models only): press Home, open LG Content Store, search for YouTube TV, then download it. Update the TV firmware to the latest version if YouTube TV does not appear.

TV devices are for setup and viewing after signup. Create the membership first, then install YouTube TV on the screen you plan to use. On certain TV devices, YouTube TV can also open from inside the main YouTube app. Open YouTube, scroll down the left navigation to YouTube TV, select it, then sign in to YouTube TV.

9. Choose individual networks instead of the Base Plan

Some networks can be purchased without the full YouTube TV Base Plan on Android devices and desktop web browsers.

  1. 1.Go to tv.youtube.com.
  2. 2.Sign in with your Google Account.
  3. 3.Select your profile photo.
  4. 4.Go to Settings.
  5. 5.Select Membership.
  6. 6.Check the network labels. Networks marked Requires YouTube TV require the Base Plan; networks without that label can be purchased individually.

This is an alternative to a full YouTube TV subscription, not a YouTube TV Base Plan signup. Google lists the option for Android devices and desktop web browsers, not iOS.
