You search for Twitter sign up, but the account creation flow now opens under the X brand. The choice that matters is where you start: browser, iPhone, Android, Google, Apple, or the mobile account switcher. Follow the path that matches your device and sign-in option.

1. Start on X.com in a browser

Use the web flow when you want to create the account with an email address or phone number.

Go to X.com/signup. X redirects this to x.com/i/flow/signup.

Click sign up.

In Create your account, enter your name and a phone number or email address.

Enter the email or SMS verification code when X prompts for it.

Click Next.

In Customize your experience, choose whether X can track where you see X content across the web.

Click Next.

2. Continue with Google on web or mobile

Pick Google when you want X to use a Google account instead of typing a separate email or phone number into the standard form.

On the web, go to X.com. In the iPhone or Android app, open X.

Select Continue with Google.

On iPhone, when X Wants to Use google.com to Sign In appears, tap Continue. On the web and on Android, X goes straight to the next step.

In Choose an account, choose your Google account or select Add account.

In Customize your experience, choose whether X can track where you see X content across the web.

Select Next.

3. Create the account with Apple

Use Continue with Apple on X.com or in the X for iOS app where that option is available.

Select Continue with Apple.

Sign in with your Apple ID in Create your account.

Choose whether X can track where you see X content across the web in Customize your experience.

Select Next.

4. Install X on iPhone or iPad

Use the official app when you want to create the account directly on an Apple device.

The current App Store listing requires iOS 15.0 or later on iPhone and iPadOS 15.0 or later on iPad.

Open X's download page or the official X listing in the App Store.

Tap Get or Open.

Open X.

Choose to sign up for a new account directly from the app.

Follow the guided sign-up experience.

Enter details such as your name and email address.

Enter the email or SMS verification code when X prompts for it.

5. Set up X on Android

Android users can start from X's download page or the official Google Play listing. X Help says Android 2.3 through 4.1 are no longer supported in the Google Play Store.

Open X's download page or the official X listing in Google Play.

Tap Install.

Open X.

Choose to sign up for a new account directly from the app.

Follow the guided sign-up experience.

Enter details such as your name and email address.

Enter the email or SMS verification code when X prompts for it.

6. Add another account from the switcher

If you are already signed in, create the next account from the mobile account switcher instead of signing out first.

On iPhone or iPad, tap the navigation menu icon.

Tap the more icon.

Tap Create new account, then follow the sign-up flow.

On Android, tap the navigation menu icon or profile icon.

Tap the down arrow icon in the header.

Tap Create new account, then follow the sign-up flow.

7. Enter the right birth date when asked

X accounts are for users age 13 and older, with country-specific consent rules for some teens. During sign-up, enter an eligible date of birth when X asks for it.

When X determines parent or guardian consent is required in your country, the account can be locked until a parent or guardian completes the parental consent form. X says that processing can take up to 60 days. Australia has a 16 and older account-use rule starting December 10, 2025.

8. Skip old SMS-only sign-up instructions

Do not use older tutorials that claim you can start a brand-new Twitter account by text message alone.

The supplied X Help research only supports a legacy activation page for people who already have an SMS-created account.

For a new account today, use X.com/signup, the official X app, Continue with Google, Continue with Apple, or Create new account in the mobile account switcher.
