Taking a screenshot on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 works a bit differently than on a regular phone, mainly because you have two screens to work with. Whether you're using the cover screen or the large inner display, Samsung gives you several quick ways to capture what's on screen. Here's how to use them.

Press the Side Button and Volume Down

The classic button combo works on both screens of the Z Fold 7. Press the Side button (on the right edge) and the Volume Down button at the same time, then release quickly. The screen flashes, you'll hear a shutter sound (unless the phone is on silent), and a toolbar appears at the bottom with options to edit, share, or scroll capture.

If you're using the cover screen, the same button press works, just make sure you're pressing both simultaneously. On the inner screen, the layout is the same, so you won't have to relearn anything.

Swipe Your Palm Across the Screen

Samsung's palm swipe gesture is still here, and it's especially handy when you're holding the Z Fold 7 open with one hand and can't easily reach the buttons. Go to Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures > Palm swipe to capture and toggle it on. Now just swipe the edge of your hand horizontally across either the cover screen or the inner display.

It takes a little practice to get the speed and angle right, but once you do, it's faster than pressing buttons. This works on both screens, though the cover screen is smaller so keep your swipe short.

Use Smart Select from the Edge Panel

The Edge panel is particularly useful on the Z Fold 7 because the large inner screen gives you plenty of room for pop-ups. Swipe in from the right edge of the inner screen to open the Edge panel, then tap Smart select. You can capture a rectangular area, an oval, or even record a GIF of a portion of the screen.

Smart select is great when you only need part of an app or want to capture something without saving the entire screen. If the Edge panel isn't visible, enable it at Settings > Display > Edge panels and customize which tools appear.

Ask Bixby or Google Assistant

If your hands are full, say you're using the phone in tent mode or reading on the inner screen, just say "Hey Bixby, take a screenshot" or "Hey Google, take a screenshot". The assistant snaps whatever is on the active display and saves it to your Gallery. On the Z Fold 7, the assistant will capture the screen you're currently looking at, whether it's the cover or inner screen.

You can also press and hold the Side button to trigger Bixby if you've set it up that way in Settings > Advanced features > Side key.

Add a Screenshot Tile in Quick Settings

Swipe down from the top of the screen twice to open the full Quick Settings panel. Look for the Screenshot tile. If it's not there, tap the pencil icon to edit your Quick Settings and drag the Screenshot tile into the visible area. Now you can tap that tile anytime to capture the current screen.

This method works on both displays and is useful if you prefer tapping over button combinations. The tile captures whatever screen is active at the moment.

Capture a Scroll Screenshot on the Tall Inner Screen

The Z Fold 7's inner screen is practically made for scroll captures. After you take a standard screenshot, a toolbar appears at the bottom. Tap the scroll capture button (two downward arrows) and the phone will automatically scroll down and extend the screenshot. Keep tapping to capture more of a long webpage, chat thread, or document.

The tall aspect ratio means you can capture a lot in a single scroll screenshot without needing multiple attempts. If you dismiss the toolbar, you can still find the original screenshot in the Gallery and try again later.

Edit and Share Your Screenshots

Right after you capture, the toolbar gives you options to crop, draw, add text, or share immediately. The Z Fold 7's larger canvas makes editing more comfortable, especially if you're using the S Pen (if you have one). If you skip the toolbar, all screenshots are saved in the Gallery app under Albums > Screenshots.

From there you can organize them into albums, delete unwanted ones, or share them from within the Gallery.

Adjust Screenshot Settings

Go to Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recordings to fine-tune the behavior. You can hide the toolbar after each capture, change the file format from PNG to JPG (saves storage), or decide where screenshots get saved. If the shutter sound annoys you, put the phone on silent mode or vibrate.

On the Z Fold 7, these settings apply to both screens, so you only need to set them once.
