Telegram makes it easy to save videos and photos directly to your phone's gallery. Whether you want to manually download specific media or set up automatic saving, here's how to do it.
Saving Videos on Telegram
To save a video from Telegram to your gallery:
- 1.Open the Telegram app and navigate to the chat containing the video
- 2.Find the video you want to save
- 3.Tap the download arrow icon on the video
- 4.The video will download immediately and appear in your phone's gallery
For video messages (those circular "bubble" videos), the process is similar - just tap the download icon to save them permanently.
Setting Up Automatic Video Downloads
If you want videos to save automatically when you receive them:
- 1.Open Telegram and tap the menu icon in the top left corner
- 2.Go to Settings

Saving Photos on Telegram

- 2.Tap the photo to open it full screen
- 3.Tap the three dots menu in the top right corner
- 4.Select "Save to gallery" from the options
The photo will immediately download and appear in your phone's gallery.
Managing Your Media Settings
You can customize how Telegram handles media downloads in the Data and Storage settings. Here you can:
- Choose when automatic downloads occur (Wi-Fi only, mobile data, or both)
- Set file size limits for automatic downloads
- Configure storage usage limits
- Clear cache to free up space
These settings help you balance convenience with storage management on your device.
Finding Your Saved Media
After saving photos and videos from Telegram, you can find them in your phone's default gallery app. On Android, they're typically in the File Manager under Telegram folders. On iPhone, they appear in the Photos app.
If you ever need to recover deleted Telegram photos, check your phone's gallery first - saved media remains there even if deleted from Telegram chats.
