Your phone number is tied to your Discord account, so changing phone settings, uninstalling the app, or revoking permissions will not remove it from Discord.
If you can sign in and know your password, use Discord's account settings to remove the number. If the number is stuck on an accidental account, locked behind an email change, or blocked by account access, use the recovery or support paths below.
Remove your number on desktop or web
Open the Discord desktop app, or go to Discord in a browser, then select the cogwheel next to your Discord username to open User Settings.
Open My Account. Under your phone number, press Remove.
Enter your password when Discord asks for it, then press Remove again.
Use the mobile app path
Open the Discord mobile app on iPhone or Android and tap your avatar in the bottom-right corner. Tap the cogwheel in the top-right corner to open Settings.
Tap Account, then tap Phone. Choose Remove Phone Number.
If the mobile path fails, use the desktop or browser method next, then contact Discord Support if you still cannot remove the number yourself.
Recover an accidental account using your number
This fixes a phone number attached to an accidental or unknown Discord account you can recover by SMS.
Open an incognito browser window.
Go to discord.gg/login.
Enter your phone number instead of an email address.
Select Forgot your password?.
Enter the SMS code Discord sends you.
Create a new password and press Change Password.
Log in with your phone number at discord.com/login.
Select the cogwheel next to your Discord username.
Open My Account.
Add an email address that is not associated with another Discord account.
Verify that email address.
Choose Remove for the phone number.
Ask Discord Support to remove it
Go to dis.gd/contact.
Sign in to the Discord support account through the support portal.
Submit a request from the email address associated with your Discord account.
Ask Discord Support to remove the phone number.
Discord Support cannot provide the associated email address or remove the number if you do not remember that email address.
Use this route after the self-removal options fail.
Undo an unauthorized email change
If someone changed the email address on your Discord account, open the recovery email Discord sent to the original email address. Choose Start Account Recovery.
On the Account Recovery page, press Start revert process. Follow the prompts to set a new password.
That recovery process changes the account email back, logs out all devices, updates the password, removes any phone number, removes MFA methods, and invalidates later recovery URLs. The recovery link is valid for 48 hours.
Delete the account if removal is not enough
The most common blocker in Discord's deletion flow is server ownership.
On desktop or web, open User Settings, go to My Account, and choose Delete Account.
If Discord prompts you, transfer ownership of every server you own or delete those servers.
Return to User Settings, open My Account, and select Delete Account again.
Enter your password and MFA code if enabled, then choose Delete Account.
On mobile, tap your profile avatar in the bottom-right corner, then tap your profile avatar again or the gear icon in the upper-right corner.
Open Account and choose Delete Account.
Transfer server ownership if Discord prompts you.
Return to Account and choose Delete Account again.
Enter your password and MFA code if enabled, then tap Okay.
Discord puts deleted accounts into a pending deletion state first and may retain phone numbers for 180 days after deletion for trust and safety, or up to two years for reported or flagged users.
Use Discord privacy contacts
This applies when you want to exercise applicable privacy or data deletion rights, especially EU or EEA GDPR rights. It is separate from the normal account settings removal flow.
Email [email protected] with your request. You can also contact Discord's Data Protection Officer at [email protected].
For EEA users, Discord lists this postal contact: Discord Netherlands BV, ATTN: Privacy Policy, Schiphol Boulevard 195, 1118 BG Schiphol, Netherlands.
Discord lets you edit or delete some account information directly, or contact Discord. It may still retain phone numbers for trust and safety, legal, backup, or dispute reasons after deletion.
Skip older Edit instructions
Older guides often tell you to open User Settings, go to My Account, choose Edit next to the phone number, and replace it with another verified number. Discord's current removal path uses Remove, not Edit, to remove a number.
Do not uninstall Discord or revoke app permissions expecting that to remove the number from your account. Those actions do not remove the phone number from Discord's account records.
Discord allows only one phone number to be connected to an account at a time. After removal, there is a waiting period before the number can be reused.
