Your LinkedIn profile still says you're open to work, but you're ready to take it down. Here's how to remove the status on your computer or phone and clear your saved preferences. If you only want the green photo frame gone, you can keep your interest visible to recruiters instead.

Remove Open to Work on your computer

Start with the box on your profile. On LinkedIn, open Me > View profile.

Click the Edit pencil in the Open to Work box.

Select Delete. This turns the feature off completely and clears your saved Open to Work preferences.

If you cannot remove it through the profile box, try the photo-frame controls below.

Turn off Open to Work in the mobile app

Using LinkedIn on your phone? You can delete the status directly in the app, which also clears your saved Open to Work preferences.

Tap your profile photo.

Tap your profile photo again to reach your profile.

Tap the Edit pencil in the Open to work box.

Choose Delete to turn off Open to Work.

Remove the status through your photo frame

This removes both the active Open to Work frame and the status.

Use this route when your profile photo has an active Open to Work frame. The frame controls are available on both the desktop website and mobile apps.

On desktop, open Me > View profile.

In the mobile app, open your profile by tapping your profile photo twice.

Select your profile photo on your profile page.

Open Frames.

Choose Original.

Select Apply.

Under Remove existing frame, choose Remove ‘Open to Work’ from profile.

Confirm with Save or Remove on desktop, or Remove in the mobile app.

Stop sharing your status with recruiters

The Recruiters only setting removes the public display but keeps your Open to Work signal visible to recruiters.

To hide your Open to Work status from recruiters, open Me > View profile on desktop.

In the mobile app, open your profile by tapping your profile photo twice.

Select the Edit pencil in the Open to Work box.

Set Visibility to Visible only to you. LinkedIn then uses your job preferences only to tailor your job recommendations. If you're Open to Work in India, any notice period, availability to join, or expected annual salary you entered stays visible to recruiters regardless of this setting. Clear those details in the editor, or choose Delete, if you don't want recruiters to see them.

Select Save.

If your app does not offer Visible only to you, check the desktop preferences below.

For complete removal, choose Delete in the profile editor instead. That clears your saved preferences.

Keep your job search active without the public frame

Still interested in hearing from recruiters? On desktop, open Jobs > Preferences, with Preferences in the left rail.

Click the arrow beside Open to work.

Set Visibility to Recruiters only to remove the public display while retaining recruiter visibility. This setting does not guarantee privacy from your employer. Choose Visible only to you instead to keep your preferences to yourself. In India, any notice period, availability to join, or expected annual salary you entered stays visible to recruiters regardless of this setting.

Select Save to apply your choice.

If you have an active Open to Work frame, the photo-frame controls offer another way to keep your interest visible to recruiters. This option is available on desktop and in the mobile app.

Follow the photo-frame steps above through Apply to reach the choice about what happens when the frame is removed.

Under Remove existing frame, choose Share ‘Open to Work’ with recruiter only. This removes the public frame while retaining your Open to Work signal for recruiters.

Confirm with Save or Remove on desktop, or Remove in the mobile app.
