Logged out of Instagram, but your account is still sitting on the login screen? Logging out ends the session; removing the remembered profile clears its saved login from that device. Here’s how to do both without deleting or deactivating your account.

Log out of the account you want to remove

On iPhone or Android, start with the account you want to remove.

  1. 1.Open the intended Instagram profile.
  2. 2.Tap Menu.
  3. 3.Scroll down and tap Log out.
  4. 4.If Instagram asks to save your login information, choose Not now.
  5. 5.Tap Log out to confirm.

Remove the profile left on the login screen

If your profile still appears after logout, Instagram has remembered its login. Removing that saved profile leaves your Instagram account intact.

On Instagram’s login screen, tap Options at the top right. Choose Remove profiles from this device, then tap Remove beside the unwanted account.

Meta does not make this control available to everyone. If your login screen shows Settings instead, use the next method.

Try the alternate login screen layout

On a login screen with Settings at the top right, tap Settings. This layout uses a different removal menu.

Select [Your Name] for the account you want to remove. Then tap Remove profile.

Sign out of a device you no longer have

Use Instagram’s session controls to end a login remotely.

  1. 1.In the app, open your profile, then tap Menu.
  2. 2.Open Accounts Center → Password and security → Where you're logged in.
  3. 3.Select your Instagram account.
  4. 4.Choose Select devices to log out.
  5. 5.Select the devices.
  6. 6.Tap Log out.

End an Instagram browser session

This logs you out of the selected browser session.

In a mobile browser, tap your profile picture at the bottom right. Open Settings at the top left, then tap Log out. Tap Log out again to confirm.

On a computer, click your profile picture at the bottom left instead. Open Settings at the top right, then click Log out.

Delete the password your device keeps offering

Still getting a saved password suggestion? That credential is separate from Instagram’s remembered profile and your active session. For passwords synced through iCloud Keychain or a Google Account, removal also affects the synced credential across devices.

On iPhone, open Passwords, then tap All. Select the Instagram credential, tap Edit, and choose Delete. Confirm with Delete Password.

In Chrome on Android, open More, then tap Settings. Open Google Password Manager, select the Instagram credential, and tap Delete.

If Instagram remains signed in or the profile still appears, use the logout and login-screen removal steps above. Deleting a password does not end an active session.

Disconnect a shared account login

This separates connected accounts; finish by removing the device’s login.

Open Accounts Center. Select Accounts or Manage accounts, matching your layout. Choose Remove beside the Instagram account.

For an account already migrated to Meta Account settings, open Manage account there instead. Select Manage beside the relevant profile. Choose Move out of this Meta Account.

Log out of Instagram on the device using the steps above. Then remove its remembered profile from the login screen.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do account deletion and deactivation differ from device removal?

Permanent deletion deletes the Instagram profile across devices. Deactivation hides the profile until you reactivate it. Logging out and removing a remembered profile leave the account intact.

Will uninstalling and reinstalling Instagram remove remembered accounts?

Reinstalling does not guarantee that remembered account suggestions disappear. Remove the saved profile through Instagram’s login screen first. Uninstalling removes the app without deleting your Instagram account.

What can I use when Accounts Center does not offer session management?

On Android, open your profile, then Menu → Security → Login Activity. Tap Options beside the session, then Log out. On a computer, open More → Settings → Login Activity. Click More beside the session, then Log out. Remote logout ends sessions; removal of remembered profile tiles or saved passwords is not guaranteed.

How do I log out on iPad or Instagram Lite?

On iPad, tap your profile picture on the left, then Menu → Log out → Log out. In Instagram Lite for Android, open your profile, then Menu → Settings. Scroll down and tap Log out. Leave Remember my login info unchecked, then select Log out.
