Need a QR code that opens your website or shares your Wi-Fi details? Chrome creates website codes directly on your phone or computer, while browser tools add appearance options and other content types. Start with the device you're using, then choose the option that fits what you want to share.

Make a website QR code in Chrome

Chrome's built-in generator turns the page you're viewing into a shareable QR code. Open the webpage in Chrome on your Windows computer, Mac, Linux computer, or Chromebook.

Click More, the three-dot menu. Choose Cast, save, and share. Select Create QR code.

Click Download to save the image. For someone nearby, let them scan the displayed code directly from your screen.

On a phone, look in the sharing menu

The desktop menu path doesn't apply on phones because Chrome puts QR creation in its sharing menu. On Android, open the webpage in Chrome.

Tap More. Tap Share.... Select QR Code. Use the displayed sharing or download option to keep or send your code.

On an iPhone or iPad, open the webpage in Chrome. Tap Share. Select Create a QR Code. Tap Share beneath the resulting code.

Choose static or dynamic before sharing

A static QR code keeps the content you put into it. You can't replace the website address encoded inside that same code, although the page at that address can change.

A dynamic QR code uses a service-managed redirect to support destination changes while keeping the same QR image. Its behavior depends on the provider and your account.

Choose static for a fixed destination. Choose dynamic when you need to change the link after distributing the code or want scan analytics. Canva offers both types, with branding, customization, and analytics determined by your plan.

Use Adobe Express for a customized image

Adobe Express works when you want a standalone website QR code with appearance options. Its browser generator creates static URL codes without installing software.

Open the Adobe Express QR code generator. Enter the destination URL. Select Generate QR code.

Customize the code's appearance using the displayed options. Download the image in one of the offered formats.

Add a QR code to a Canva design

Use Canva's editor to create a static code or a dynamic code with an editable destination.

  1. 1.Open your design in Canva.
  2. 2.Select Apps and search for “QR code.”
  3. 3.Choose Static QR codes for a fixed destination or Dynamic QR codes for a destination you can change later.
  4. 4.For a static code, enter your URL and adjust colors and margin if needed. For a dynamic code, choose a pattern, enter your URL, and add a name if wanted.
  5. 5.Select Save.
  6. 6.To change a dynamic code's destination later, select the code, choose Edit, replace its URL, and select Save. A static code's destination cannot be edited.

For Wi-Fi or contact details, choose the right code type

Use a general-purpose generator for contact details, plain text, or Wi-Fi information. Supported phones also display codes for saved or connected Wi-Fi networks.

Open QR Code Generator. Choose a content type, such as vCard, Plain Text, Email, SMS, or WiFi. Enter the details requested for that type. Select Generate.

Download the finished code. These static codes don't support destination changes or scan tracking, and receiving-app support varies by content type.

To share a saved Wi-Fi network from an iPhone, open Passwords. Select Wi-Fi. Select the network.

Tap Show Network QR Code. Let the other device scan it.

On a Google Pixel, open Settings > Network & internet > Internet. Connect to the Wi-Fi network you want to share. Tap that network's Settings icon.

Tap Share. Verify your identity if prompted to display the QR code.

Test the version you'll actually share

Scan the final saved image or printed code before distributing it, including any code placed in a design. Check that the result opens the intended destination or provides the intended information. A QR code linking to a private document or form doesn't grant access by itself; recipients still need permission.

If the code fails, generate a replacement with the intended URL or details and test it again. For a Canva dynamic code that opens the wrong page, select the code, use Edit to correct its URL, and select Save.
