Facebook is still signed in, and you need to leave the phone or computer without leaving your account open. Start with Facebook’s built-in logout, or use its session controls if the device is somewhere else. The browser and Samsung Galaxy options below also remove local sign-in data, but they do not log you out on other devices.
Start with Facebook’s built-in logout
On a computer, click your profile picture in the top right of Facebook.
Click Log Out at the bottom of the menu that appears.
In the Facebook app on Android or iPhone, tap Menu in the top left.
Scroll to the bottom and tap Log Out.
On an iPad, tap Menu in the bottom right of the app instead, then scroll to the bottom and tap Log Out.
Facebook notes that you have to log out of each device separately. If the Log Out option does not appear in a browser, clear that browser’s cache using the instructions below.
If you left Facebook open on a device you no longer have with you, use remote session management instead.
Check sessions if you left Facebook signed in elsewhere
Facebook’s Where you're logged in feature lets you manage account sessions on other devices. Start there when the phone or computer you need to sign out of is somewhere else.
Open your Accounts Center and select Password and security.
Select Where you're logged in, then choose your account to see the sessions you are currently signed in on.
Select Select devices to log out.
Pick the sessions you want to end, or choose Select all.
Select Log out, then select Log out again to confirm. Facebook signs those devices out immediately.
Each entry shows a date, time, location and device type, which helps you find the session you want. Meta’s Safety Center still describes this list as part of Security and login settings, so you may reach it by either route depending on your app version.
Clearing cookies on the device in your hand only removes that browser’s local sign-in data. Sessions on your other devices remain separate.
If you cannot end the session remotely and still have access to that device, use Facebook’s built-in logout there or clear its browser sign-in cookies using the matching instructions below.
Clear the browser cookies that keep Facebook signed in
Stored sign-in cookies keep Facebook signed in between browser visits.
Deleting Facebook’s cookies removes that browser’s local sign-in data. Use the instructions for the browser where you opened Facebook.
In desktop Chrome, open More.
Go to Settings > Privacy and security > Third-party cookies > See all site data and permissions.
Search for Facebook.
Select the Delete icon beside its entry.
Confirm with Delete.
For Microsoft Edge on Windows, open Settings and more.
Go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Cookies > See all cookies and site data.
Search for Facebook.
Expand its entry.
Select Delete.
In desktop Firefox, visit Facebook.
Select the shield or padlock beside the address.
Choose Clear cookies and site data. Firefox also uses the label Clear Cookies and Site data in some interfaces.
Remove Facebook sign-in data from a mobile browser
For Chrome on Android, visit Facebook in Chrome.
Tap Page info beside the address.
Open Cookies and site data.
Tap the Delete icon next to the stored data.
For Chrome on an iPhone or iPad, open More.
Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Delete Browsing Data.
Select Cookies, Site Data. This affects other website logins in Chrome too.
Deselect other data you want to keep.
Tap Delete Browsing Data.
Tap Delete Browsing Data again.
Tap Done.
For Safari on an iPhone, open Settings.
Go to Apps > Safari > Advanced > Website Data.
Tap Remove All Website Data. This removes website data across Safari, including data for other website sessions.
Confirm with Remove Now.
Clearing a mobile browser’s data does not sign you out of the Facebook app.
Reset Facebook’s local app data on Samsung Galaxy
Clearing Facebook’s data on a Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet resets the app and removes its local data. It is a broader reset than ordinary logout, and a local reset is not confirmation that Facebook has ended the session on its servers.
Open Settings > Apps > Facebook > Storage.
Select Clear data.
Confirm with Delete. Samsung’s controls vary by software and app. Use Clear data for this reset; do not use Clear cache as a logout method.
Finish a Chrome Incognito or Guest session
If you used Facebook in desktop Chrome’s Incognito mode, close every Incognito window using its Close control. The session stays open while any Incognito window remains.
For a Chrome Guest session on Windows, macOS, or Linux, select the Profile icon.
Choose Close guest. Chrome deletes that Guest session’s cookies and site data.
Ending an Incognito or Guest session does not remove an existing Facebook login in a regular browser window.

No. These methods use Facebook’s existing controls or settings already available in your browser or device.
Why can I still sign in easily after removing cookies?
Saved passwords and other saved-login mechanisms let you sign in again after local sign-in cookies have been removed. Removing cookies does not remove every way to sign back in.
Can Chrome automatically remove sign-in data when I close it?
Yes. In desktop Chrome, open More > Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Additional content settings > On-device site data.
Select Delete data sites have saved to your device when you close all windows.
Close every Chrome window when finished. This setting affects other sites too.
Does offloading Facebook on an iPhone log me out?
Do not use Offload App as a logout method. Apple says offloading preserves the app’s documents and data.
