Dragon Talon sounds simple until Uzoth refuses to teach it. The unlock has a strict chain: Third Sea access, Dragon Breath at 400 Mastery, Fire Essence, 3,000,000 Beli, and 5,000 Fragments.
The current Uzoth route is Hydra Island's Dragon Dojo, not the old Haunted Castle giant gear location. Start there once the requirements are ready, or hand over Fire Essence first if you already rolled it.
Start With Uzoth at Dragon Dojo
Go to the Third Sea and travel to Hydra Island. Head into the mountains and enter Dragon Dojo, where Uzoth teaches Dragon Talon.
Talk to Uzoth with Dragon Breath at 400 Mastery, Fire Essence, 3,000,000 Beli, and 5,000 Fragments ready.
Give Uzoth Fire Essence when he asks for it, then choose Learn to buy Dragon Talon.
If this does not work, check Third Sea access, Dragon Breath mastery, Fire Essence, Beli, and Fragments before returning to Uzoth.
Learn Dragon Breath First
Travel to the Second Sea and go to the Kingdom of Rose.
Find Sabi on the small arches of the great wall.
Use Sabi at Castle on the Sea in the Third Sea instead if that location is easier for you.
Talk to Sabi and buy Dragon Breath for 1,500 Fragments.
Use Dragon Breath until it reaches 400 Mastery.
Dragon Breath is permanent, so you can relearn it free after switching away from it.
Roll Fire Essence From Death King
This fixes the usual Dragon Talon blocker: Uzoth needs Fire Essence before the unlock can move forward.
Go to the Third Sea and enter Haunted Castle.
Head to the cemetery mausoleum.
Choose Random Surprise and spend 50 Bones on one draw.
Use the 10 purchases available in each 2-hour period until Fire Essence appears as the random reward.
Give Fire Essence to Uzoth before dying.
Bank Fire Essence Early
Use this method when Death King gives you Fire Essence before you have 400 Dragon Breath Mastery, 3,000,000 Beli, or 5,000 Fragments. Uzoth can take Fire Essence before the rest of the Dragon Talon requirements are finished.
Go to Hydra Island and enter Dragon Dojo in the mountain area.
Talk to Uzoth and give him Fire Essence.
Watch for the confirmation message, Used <Fire Essence> successfully.
Finish 400 Mastery on Dragon Breath, collect 3,000,000 Beli, and collect 5,000 Fragments.
Return to Uzoth and choose Learn to buy Dragon Talon.
Bring the Exact Cost
Keep Dragon Breath equipped until it reaches 400 Mastery.
Collect 3,000,000 Beli.
Collect 5,000 Fragments.
Return to Uzoth at Hydra Island's Dragon Dojo.
Choose Learn when Uzoth offers Dragon Talon.
Do the Fire Essence handoff first if you already rolled it, because dying before giving it to Uzoth loses the item.
Relearn Dragon Talon Later
If you already bought Dragon Talon once and switched to another fighting style, Uzoth does not need another Fire Essence. The first purchase is enough for relearning it.
Go back to Uzoth at Hydra Island's Dragon Dojo and talk to him again.
Relearn or equip Dragon Talon from Uzoth without repeating the first-time unlock.
If this does not work, check that you are using the same account that originally purchased Dragon Talon.
Ignore Haunted Castle Uzoth Guides
The most common cause of bad directions is an outdated tutorial that still sends players to the giant gear at Haunted Castle.
Use Hydra Island's Dragon Dojo for Uzoth in the current version. That is where you give Fire Essence and buy Dragon Talon.
Go to Haunted Castle only for Death King and Random Surprise. Death King is still the route for rolling Fire Essence, but Uzoth is no longer the NPC to find there.
