To reconnect a Vizio TV to WiFi, press MENU, open All Settings > Network, select your WiFi name and enter the password on models with that menu. If it still fails, check another device on the same network before restarting the TV and router.
The short version
- Check another device to see whether the whole network is affected.
- Reconnect through Network using the correct WiFi password.
- Restart the TV and your network equipment before changing settings.
- On eero, check blocks, pauses and compatibility settings.
- Try Ethernet if available, and leave a factory reset until last.

Check your network and reconnect the TV
Try the internet on another device connected to the same WiFi. If several devices have trouble, restart the network equipment as described below and contact your internet provider if the problem continues. Work through the TV steps first when the other device connects normally.
On covered VHD24M, VHD32M, VFD32M, VFD40M and VFD43M variants in Vizio's 2024 HD/FHD manual, press MENU and open All Settings > Network. Select your WiFi name and enter its password. Match the full model number to its manual before using a different menu path.
Older menus, including those documented for the M43Q6-J04 and other models in Vizio's M6-Series manual, use MENU > Network. Choose your network under Wireless Access Points, enter the password and select Connect. If the name is missing, open More Access Points and select it there. If the TV rejects a password you know works elsewhere, follow the checks for a Wi-Fi password that says incorrect.
For a hidden network on that documented M6-Series menu, open MENU > Network > Hidden Network. Enter the network name, select Connect and enter its password. Use this route when the network name is not being broadcast.
On those models with saved-network controls, highlight the saved network, press OK and choose Forget before reconnecting. Unplug any Ethernet cable first because a wired connection hides the wireless connection menu. Use these controls only if they appear on your TV.
Restart the TV
On affected 2016 to 2020 TVs with the documented menus, press MENU and open All Settings > Admin & Privacy > Restart TV. Some models call it Soft Power Cycle. Confirm with Yes, then retry WiFi after the restart.
On older covered models without that option, use System > Reboot TV. If neither path appears, check your model's manual before choosing another option.
Restart your network equipment and improve the signal
Follow your equipment maker's restart instructions, because the waiting times differ. For a Linksys setup, disconnect the modem's power for about two minutes, reconnect it and wait until it is online. Unplug the Linksys router or nodes for 30 seconds, reconnect power and allow about a minute for the router to restart. If restarts do not help, check whether the router needs a router firmware update.
For an offline eero network, leave the modem or fiber ONT unplugged for at least three minutes. Reconnect power and wait for it to come online, which can take five to ten minutes. Then restart the gateway eero and wait for a solid white light before trying the TV again.
Give the signal a clearer path
Move the router or mesh node closer to the area where you need coverage, with fewer thick walls and metal objects in the way. Keep eero nodes out of cabinets and away from microwaves. Place a wireless eero between the gateway and a weak coverage area, where it can still receive a signal, then retry the TV connection.
Check eero access and compatibility settings
If you use eero, ask the network owner to check the TV's access before changing compatibility settings. A blocked device cannot join even with the correct password, while a paused device can join WiFi but cannot reach the internet. These eero controls do not describe menus on other router brands.
Unblock or resume the TV
In the eero app, open Devices and find the TV in the Blocked section. Open its device page, tap the more options icon and choose Unblock device. Device blocking is unavailable in bridge mode.
For a paused TV, find it in Devices, open its page and tap Resume device. If its whole profile is paused, select that profile on Home and tap Resume profile. Retry internet access after resuming the affected device or profile.
Check the supported WiFi bands
Check your TV model's specifications before using eero's option for devices that support only 2.4 GHz. For a confirmed 2.4 GHz-only TV, open Settings > Troubleshooting > My device won't connect > My device is 2.4 GHz only. Tap Pause 5 GHz and 6 GHz, then reconnect the TV within ten minutes.
The higher bands return automatically after ten minutes. Tap Cancel to bring them back sooner. Skip this adjustment if your TV's specifications do not identify it as a 2.4 GHz-only device.
Check encryption compatibility
If joining still fails with eero's Hybrid or Enhanced encryption enabled, open Settings > Network settings > Encryption. Try Standard (WPA2) for the relevant 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz band, then retry the TV. The 6 GHz band stays WPA3-only, and a failed connection alone does not identify the TV's supported encryption.
Try Ethernet if your TV has a port
If your TV has an Ethernet port, connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the TV's Ethernet port. Try accessing the internet on the TV through this wired connection. If the wired connection fails or performs poorly, try another Ethernet cable that you know works.
If you use eero, also try another Ethernet port on the eero if one is available. Ethernet gives you a way to continue without the WiFi connection. Check the TV's ports before choosing this option, since the port layout depends on the model. If your TV has no Ethernet port, continue with its supported reset or contact options.
Check for updates after connecting
Once the TV is online, check for updates. On the affected 2016 to 2020 models covered by Vizio's instructions, press MENU and choose All Settings > Admin & Privacy > Check for Updates. Select Yes to start.
Older covered models may use System > Check for Updates. Let any available update finish downloading before proceeding.
Save a factory reset for last
A factory reset clears saved WiFi credentials and returns settings to their defaults, so save it until after the connection checks. Have your WiFi password ready for setup again. Check the manual supplied with your exact model before using physical-button reset instructions.
For covered variants in the 2024 HD/FHD manual named above, turn the TV on and hold its physical Power/Input button for 12 seconds. The button sits under the remote sensor. Complete setup again afterward, including the WiFi connection, and contact Vizio if your model is not covered by these instructions.
Get help for your exact model
Contact Vizio if the TV still cannot connect or its menus differ from the documented paths. Open vizio.com/en/mobile and select Contact Us under Get Help at the bottom of the page. Tell support which connection steps you completed and whether other devices can use the same WiFi.
You can also seek help through VIZIO Mobile, which offers text, chat and phone support. Use the website if you prefer to contact support without the app. Ask for the connection or reset procedure for your full model number before trying another model's button sequence.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can VIZIO Mobile connect an offline TV to WiFi?
No, the documented pairing process requires the phone and TV to be on the same WiFi network already. Once both are connected, select your TV in the app's device selector and enter the four-digit code shown on the TV.
Where do I get the official VIZIO Mobile app?
Get VIZIO Mobile from the App Store or Play Store. Keep it updated, and connect your phone to the same WiFi as the TV when pairing or using the app to control it.
Does Vizio deliver TV updates automatically?
Vizio's April 2025 notice says the Google Cast update automatically downloads in the background when available for an affected TV. That notice concerns certain models from 2016 to 2020. Keep the TV connected to the internet, and remember that a manual check may not offer that rollout immediately.
Why does my TV connect to eero WiFi but have no internet?
One possibility is that the TV or its profile is paused in eero. Paused devices can still join the wireless network, so check Resume device or Resume profile before changing the WiFi password.
