Facebook Dating can vanish from the menu, get stuck loading, show the wrong location, or stop giving you matches. The fix depends on where it breaks: account eligibility, the regular Facebook app, location access, verification, or the app itself. Start with the checks that decide whether Dating should appear at all, then move through the fixes for location, loading, profile, and match problems.
1. Confirm Dating is available on your account
Use this check first when Dating is missing from the Facebook menu. Open the Facebook app on an Android phone or iPhone, tap Menu, then tap Dating.
If Dating is missing or blocked, check the account requirements before changing app settings. You are at least 18, your Facebook account is active and in good standing, your account is at least 30 days old, and you live in a country where Facebook Dating is available.
When one of those requirements is not met, updates, cache clearing, and reinstalling Facebook will not make Dating appear.
2. Open Dating in the regular Facebook app
Install or open the regular Facebook app from the App Store or Google Play. Tap Menu, tap Dating, and follow the setup prompts if your Dating profile has not been created.
Facebook Dating works inside the regular Facebook app for Android or iPhone. It does not work on desktop Facebook, facebook.com, m.facebook.com, mobile browsers, or Facebook Lite.
Skip browser switching, Facebook Lite, in-app browser cookie clearing, and separate “Facebook Dating app” downloads. Those are not current Dating fixes. The supported path is the regular Facebook app and its built-in Dating section.
3. Allow Facebook to use your location
Dating needs Location Services when you create your Dating profile or when Facebook asks you to confirm or update your location. If location access is blocked, the feature opens with errors or fails during setup. After your profile exists, you can turn Facebook Location Services off and keep using Dating from your most recently confirmed Dating location.
On iPhone, open Settings, tap Privacy & Security, tap Location Services, and tap Facebook. Choose an allowed location option, and leave Precise Location on when Dating needs an accurate location.
On Android, open Settings, tap Location, tap App location permissions, and tap Facebook. Choose Allow only while using the app or another allowed option, and turn on Use precise location when that switch appears.
Android also gives you a shortcut: touch and hold the Facebook app icon. Tap App info, open Permissions, tap Location, and choose an allowed option.
4. Update your Dating location
Use Facebook normally for some time so your Primary Location can update. Open the Facebook app, tap Menu, tap Dating, tap Profile, and open Dating preferences. Tap Dating location, then tap Update.
If Facebook Dating shows the wrong place or a location mismatch, fix the Dating location inside the app. A VPN causes a mismatch when it makes your Dating location and Primary Location differ, so turn the VPN off before updating.
On Android, turn on location accuracy if Facebook already has permission but Dating still places you incorrectly. Android 12 and later: go to Settings > Location > Location Services > Location Accuracy > Improve Location Accuracy. Android 11 and earlier: go to Settings > Location > Advanced > Location Accuracy > Improve Location Accuracy.
5. Finish verification and age checks
Verification comes first when Facebook Dating asks for it. Meta says Dating cannot be used until the verification is complete. Open Facebook Dating or the Facebook notification about verification, follow the on-screen selfie verification instructions, and wait for verification updates in notifications.
If Facebook has the wrong birthday, correct it from your profile. Open your Facebook profile, tap See your About info, go to Basic info, and tap Edit next to birthday. Open Accounts Center, tap Edit next to birthday, update the birthday, and tap Save.

6. Restart Facebook and install updates
When Dating opens but freezes, hangs, or refuses to load, refresh the app before deleting anything. On iPhone, open the app switcher, swipe up on Facebook, and reopen Facebook. On Android, open Recents, swipe Facebook away or close it, and reopen Facebook.
Next, update the app from the official store. iPhone: open App Store, tap your account button or photo, go to App Updates, and tap Update next to Facebook. Android: open Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, open Manage apps & device, tap Manage, tap Facebook, and tap Update.

7. Clear Android cache or reinstall Facebook

Android: open Settings, go to Apps or Application manager, tap Facebook, and tap Uninstall. Reinstall from Google Play. If Facebook came preinstalled and has no Uninstall option, tap Disable or Uninstall updates instead, following your phone maker's steps.
iPhone: touch and hold Facebook, tap Remove App, tap Delete App, and tap Delete. Reinstall from the App Store. Reinstall Facebook when restart, updates, and cache cleanup do not fix the app.
8. Tune your profile and match preferences
For missing or poor matches, open Facebook > Menu > Dating. Tap the top-right profile or settings control, open Dating preferences, tap the section you want to edit, and save the change.
For incomplete details, photos, or prompts, go to Facebook > Menu > Dating > Profile > Dating profile > Edit profile. Update and save your profile.
For missed Dating alerts or verification updates, open Facebook > Menu > Settings > Notifications. Adjust how Facebook sends notifications. On iPhone, also open Settings > Notifications > Facebook, then turn on Allow Notifications. On Android, open Settings > Notifications > App notifications > Facebook, then turn notifications on.
If Dating opens but your matches look empty, stale, or wrong, update the Dating settings that control recommendations. Use Dating assistant if it appears in Dating. The assistant is rolling out gradually, so a missing Dating assistant button is not an app problem.
9. Report the bug or reset Dating last
If Dating still fails after the supported fixes, report the bug from the spot where it happens.

Delete and recreate the Dating profile only after everything else fails. Open Facebook > Menu > Dating, tap the top-right control, and tap Settings. Under Account, tap Delete Profile > Delete Profile.
This removes your Dating profile, answers, likes, matches, and conversations from your side, and that data is not recoverable. Deleting conversations does not remove them from the other person's inbox, so anyone you matched with may still see the messages you exchanged. You cannot create a new Dating profile for 7 days after deleting one, so recreate it only after that waiting period.
