Your Canon printer won't connect to Wi-Fi, and nothing is printing. Start with the wireless checks below, then use the setup controls for your model to reconnect it. If the printer is already connected but your phone or computer cannot find it, head to the discovery permissions.
Check the printer's Wi-Fi and your network
First, check that the printer's Wi-Fi is switched on. On a PIXMA TS7700 series, open HOME > Setup > Printer settings > LAN settings > Wi-Fi > Enable/disable Wi-Fi > Enable. Other Canon models have different controls, so use the instructions for your exact model.
Connect your phone to the same router you want the printer to use. For computer setup, check that the computer can browse the internet through that router.
Move the printer closer to the router, away from metal or concrete obstructions, microwaves, and USB 3.0 equipment. Those obstacles and devices interfere with the wireless signal.
Restart the connection in the right order
This restart sequence addresses connection and discovery failures.
Restart your router.
Wait about five minutes.
Restart the printer.
Try finding the printer again in your Canon setup application.
Restart your phone or computer if discovery still fails.
Reconnect after changing your router or password
After a Wi-Fi password change, or a router replacement that doesn't carry over the old network name and password, the printer's saved network settings no longer match the connection it needs. If your new router used its settings transfer function, check whether the printer reconnects before changing anything.
Otherwise, repeat network setup after replacing the router or changing its settings. Canon also recommends repeating setup after changing computers or switching between USB and Wi-Fi.
On the TS7700, TS7600i, and TS6630 series, open HOME > Network icon > Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi setup > Manual connect.
Select your router's network name.
Enter its Wi-Fi password, matching uppercase and lowercase letters exactly.
Complete the confirmation displayed on the printer.
If your network is missing, select Search again.
For a hidden network that remains absent, select Directly enter the wireless router name.
Enter its exact network name and security information.
Use Easy wireless connect for setup through an app
Choose your model's setup controls, then finish the connection on your phone or computer.
- 1.Get compatible setup software from Canon's model-specific downloads, or get Canon PRINT through Canon's official app page.
- 2.Start setup mode. On a TS7700, TS7600i, or TS6630, select HOME, tap the Wireless connect icon, and select Start. On a powered-on TR4700, hold Menu/Wireless connect for three seconds. On a TS3500, hold Wireless connect until the Direct icon flashes, then check that the network-status icon and lower horizontal bars flash.
- 3.Complete the connection in the setup application. For compatible models offering a temporary Canon_ij_ network, join it in your phone's Wi-Fi settings before completing the prompts in Canon PRINT.
- 4.Finish the displayed confirmation. On a TR4700, press OK when the completion message appears.
- 5.For TR4700 error 3440, press OK and retry Easy wireless connect. If it fails again, switch to another supported setup method, such as WPS.
Give your phone or Mac permission to find the printer
On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.
Enable Canon PRINT or the printing app you use.
On macOS 15 or later, open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.
Enable each Canon application that needs to find the printer.
On Android, allow the location permission when Canon PRINT requests it during network setup.
For an iPhone or iPad setup flow requesting location, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Canon PRINT.
Select While Using the App.
Enable Precise Location for that setup flow.
Retry printer discovery in Canon PRINT.
Keep the phone and printer connected to the same router while retrying discovery.
Match router settings and remove discovery blocks
A router band or security mode that your printer does not support prevents it from connecting.
For a TR4700, enable a 2.4 GHz network with supported security, such as WPA2 with AES, through your router's administration interface. This model does not support 5 GHz or WPA3-only security; follow your router manufacturer's instructions for its controls.
Reconnect the TR4700 to that compatible network. Check your model before changing bands: the TS7700 family supports 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and WPA3.
For TS7700 authentication failures, match the router's security to the printer's supported protocols. Canon recommends trying a mode that includes WPA2; do not switch to insecure WEP as a general fix.
If the printer connects but remains undiscoverable, disable client isolation on its trusted network. Look for the router's equivalent of Privacy separator, SSID separator, or Network separation in the manufacturer's instructions.
Check router IP or MAC filtering to make sure the printer and computer are permitted.
Temporarily disconnect the computer's VPN.
Retry printer setup or discovery.
Reconnect the VPN afterward.
If discovery fails again with the VPN connected, configure its local-network access using the VPN vendor's instructions.
Allow the Canon application when your firewall prompts during setup.
Run Canon's connection repair utility
Wi-Fi Connection Assistant diagnoses and repairs connection problems on supported printers and operating systems.
Find your exact printer model on Canon's Software and Drivers page.
Select your operating system and version.
Download the compatible Wi-Fi Connection Assistant package. Diagnosis and repair support depends on your printer model.
Install the package using its installation instructions.
On Windows 11, open Start > All apps > Canon Utilities > Wi-Fi Connection Assistant.
Accept the startup message with Yes.
Select Diagnose and Repair.
Follow the utility's instructions.
On a supported Mac, launch Wi-Fi Connection Assistant from Canon Utilities.
Enter your Mac account password when requested.
Select Install Helper to start diagnosis and repair.
Let the network report narrow down the problem
Still stuck? On a TS7700, load at least four sheets of Letter or A4 paper for a network report. It shows connection status, the network name, signal information, the IP address, and diagnostic codes.
Open HOME > Setup > Printer settings > LAN settings > Print details > Yes. Choose OFF when asked about including passwords.
Check the connection and network name first. For C-7 or C-9, move the printer and router closer together and away from interference, then print another report to check the signal. For C-5, follow the router manufacturer's instructions to select a supported channel, increase an exhausted device limit, disable power saving when it coincides with failures, or check firmware updates for recurring disconnections.
If the report confirms a working network connection but Canon setup cannot detect the printer, select Search By IP Address on the Start Printer Connection screen. Select Search by IPv4 address, enter the printer's address from the report, and select Next. This search requires an existing network connection.
Reset the saved network settings as a last step
On a PIXMA TS7700, a network reset erases the saved connection settings so you can set up Wi-Fi again.
- 1.Open Setup > Printer settings > Reset settings > LAN settings only. For other Canon printers, use your model's documented reset procedure; there is no universal Canon button sequence.
- 2.Enter the administrator password if requested.
- 3.Confirm with Yes.
- 4.Repeat Wi-Fi setup using your current router's network name and password. If administrator mode or a screen lock hides Wi-Fi setup on a work printer, ask the printer administrator to complete the connection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I connect my Canon printer without typing the Wi-Fi password?
Yes, with a supported printer and WPS-compatible router. On a TS7700, TS7600i, or TS6630, select Wi-Fi setup > WPS (Push button method) > OK. Operate the router's WPS button, then tap OK on the printer within two minutes. Confirm that the connection succeeded. If your WPA3 configuration prevents WPS, use Manual connect instead.
Can I print wirelessly while the router connection is broken?
Yes. On a TS7700, open Setup > Printer settings > LAN settings > Wireless Direct and enable direct mode. Use Connect to smartphone to scan the displayed QR code, or join the printer's network from your device's Wi-Fi settings using the displayed network name and password. Wireless Direct bypasses the router. Your device loses its normal internet connection if it relies on the router's Wi-Fi while connected directly.
Why does Windows still fail to print after the printer connects to Wi-Fi?
Wi-Fi connection and Windows printer installation are separate. To add the connected printer again in Windows 11, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners. Select the printer and choose Remove. Return to the printer list and select Add device to add it again. The printer must already be on the same network.
Will a printer firmware update fix a completely disconnected TS7700?
The online firmware update requires internet connectivity, so it cannot run while the printer is completely disconnected. After restoring connectivity, open Setup > Printer settings > Firmware update > Install update > Yes > Start update. Keep the printer powered on throughout.
