Looking for someone on Pinterest but getting Pins instead of profiles? Start with their name or username, then switch the results to Profiles. If search doesn't get you there, try a direct link, your existing connections, or an invitation from the profile owner.

Find someone in the Pinterest app

A name search leaves you looking at Pins when the results haven't been filtered to profiles. Sign in to the Pinterest app on your iPhone or Android phone. Tap the search icon at the bottom of the screen. Enter the person's name or Pinterest username in the search bar.

Submit the search with your keypad's search key. Tap the filter control. Depending on your app's layout, Pinterest shows it at the top-left of the results or beside or above the search bar. Select Profiles, then tap View results or Apply, whichever button your app shows.

Tap the person's photo to inspect their profile. Tap Follow if you want to follow the account.

No Profiles filter? Pinterest's profile search is unavailable in some regions. Use a direct or shared profile link instead.

Search on the Pinterest website

The website's profile filter narrows your results to accounts. Sign in to Pinterest. Type the person's name or Pinterest username into the search bar.

Press Enter. Open the filter control at the top-left of the results. Choose Profiles.

Click Confirm. Click a profile picture to inspect the account. Click Follow if it's the person you want to follow.

Already know their Pinterest username? Enter https://www.pinterest.com/USERNAME/ in your browser, replacing USERNAME with their actual username.

Check the profile's identity. A handle they use on another social network is only a candidate.

Another direct route is an existing Pinterest profile link on the person's website or social bio. Open that link to reach the account.

If you don't have a link, ask the person to share their profile through another app using Pinterest's profile share control. Shared links still respect profile access restrictions.

If these routes fail, search Google, Bing, or Yahoo for the person's name plus Pinterest, or use site:pinterest.com "Person Name" for a more focused search. This works only for publicly indexed results; search privacy settings and indexing delays affect whether an account appears.

Rediscover someone you already follow

Your own follower and following lists give you a place to check existing connections.

  1. 1.Open your profile using your profile picture at the top-right on the website or bottom-right in the app.
  2. 2.Select Followers or Following. On the website, these appear below your name.
  3. 3.In the app's Following view, select People rather than Boards.
  4. 4.Review the accounts to find the person you're looking for.

Look up an email address in sharing or board invitations

If you only have an email address, use Pinterest's sharing or board invitation tools. Pinterest's Profiles search works with a person's name or Pinterest username.

On the website, open a Pin, board, or profile. Click its share icon. Enter the person's name or email address in the recipient search. Inspect the matching names without selecting Send.

For another route on the website or app, open your profile using your photo at the top-right on the website or bottom-right in the app. Board invitations require ownership or permission to invite collaborators. Open one of your boards. Select the plus control below the board name.

Search by first and last name, username, or email address. Review the matches. Select Invite only if you want that person to collaborate on the board.

Ask for an invitation to a private profile

An invitation from the owner lets you reach a private profile that doesn't appear in search. Ask the person to send you a profile invitation link. To generate it on the website, the owner clicks their profile photo at the top-right.

They select Share. They choose Copy link. Have them send you the copied invitation. Open the invitation.

Follow the prompts shown on screen. Request a fresh invitation if the link has expired. Each invitation expires after three days or five uses. An ordinary profile URL does not bypass private-profile restrictions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I find someone on Pinterest by phone number?

Pinterest says it uses phone numbers for account security and for personalized recommendations and ads, and it doesn't display your phone number to other Pinterest users. Ask for the person's Pinterest username or a shared profile link.

How do I find a creator if I don't know their name?

Enter their topic or subject area in Pinterest's search bar. Open the filter control and select Profiles where available, then choose Confirm on the website, or View results or Apply in the app. Inspect the matching creators, people, and brands.

Can Pinterest identify someone from a photo of their face?

Pinterest describes Lens as a way to discover ideas and products inspired by what's in a photo, such as items from someone's street style, and to scan Pincodes. Can a teen make their Pinterest profile public so I can find it?

Profiles belonging to users under 16 must remain private. Eligible users aged 16 or older can change profile visibility, subject to parental controls. Only the account owner can change their profile's visibility.
