Forgot your Comcast Wi-Fi password, or need a new one? Start with the Xfinity app if you rent an eligible Xfinity Gateway. You can also find the password on an unchanged gateway label, display it on a supported X1 box, or retrieve a copy saved on your devices.
Find or change your password in the Xfinity app
Sign in to the Xfinity app with a Primary, Manager, or Member Xfinity ID. These roles have access to the WiFi tab on eligible residential accounts with rented gateways, including XB6, XB7, XB8, and XB10 models.
Open WiFi.
Select WiFi details.
Open Edit WiFi settings.
Read your current password in WiFi password.
To change it, enter your replacement in WiFi password.
Tap Save after making a change.
Reconnect your devices using the new password.
Tip: To share access, use WiFi → WiFi details → Share, or have a device that supports Wi-Fi QR codes scan the code on the details card.
If you never changed it, check the gateway label
Look on the side or bottom of your Xfinity Gateway for its default Wi-Fi network name and password. If you never customized them, that's the information you need.
The printed password also applies when factory settings have been restored. The sticker does not update when you change your password.
If the printed password fails, check the current password in the Xfinity app or retrieve it from a device with the network saved.
Show the password on your X1 television
A supported X1 TV box displays your network name and password without an account login; it cannot change them.
Press the microphone button on your Xfinity Voice Remote.
Say “What’s my WiFi name?” Your television displays the network name and password details.
For the menu route, press the xfinity button on the remote.
Use the right arrow to select the gear icon.
Use the down arrow to select Help.
Use the right arrow to select the WiFi tile under Tools.
Recover a password saved on your phone or computer
Choose your device below; saved credentials stay outdated after a gateway password change until updated, and Pixel and Galaxy QR sharing provides access without requiring a plain-text password display.
On iPhone with iOS 16 or later, or iPad with iPadOS 16.1 or later, open Settings → Wi-Fi → the Info button beside the connected network → Password.
Authenticate with your device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.
On current Windows 11 builds with this option, open Settings → Network & internet → Properties.
Select Show beside Wi-Fi network password.
On macOS Ventura 13 or later, open the Apple menu → System Settings → Network → Wi-Fi → Advanced.
Select More (…) beside your network.
Choose Copy Password.
Paste it into a text field to read it.
On a supported Pixel, open Settings → Network & internet → Internet → the Settings gear beside the connected network → Share.
Verify your identity when prompted.
Then have the receiving device scan the QR code.
On a supported Samsung Galaxy, open Settings → Connections → Wi-Fi → the Settings gear beside the connected network → QR code.
Have the receiving device scan it to join.
Use the browser tool on an XB2 or XB3 gateway
Connect your computer to the home network or directly to the gateway by Ethernet. This route applies to rented XB2 and XB3 gateways with local Wi-Fi management available. Customers with WiFi Extenders need the Xfinity app.
Open http://10.0.0.1 in your browser.
Enter your Admin Tool username. If you haven’t changed it, enter admin.
Enter your gateway’s administrator password; if you haven’t changed it, check the sticker on the bottom of your gateway. It is separate from your Wi-Fi password and Xfinity ID password; admin/password is not a universal current login.
Click LOGIN.
Open Gateway.
Select Connection.
Choose Wi-Fi.
Under Private Wi-Fi Network, select Edit beside the band you want to manage.
Select Show Network Password to read the current password.
To replace it, edit Network Password.
Click SAVE SETTINGS after making a change.
Repeat the change for separately configured bands.
Tip: XB6 and newer gateways require the Xfinity app for Wi-Fi password changes, even when Admin Tool access is enabled.
Use your router’s own password settings
For a customer-owned router, follow its manufacturer’s route below; ask the network owner, installer, or router vendor for help if you cannot access the settings.
For a supported NETGEAR router, connect to it.
Open www.routerlogin.net.
Sign in with the router administrator credentials.
Select Wireless.
Enter your new password in Password (Network Key).
Click Apply after a change. Nighthawk Pro Gaming uses Settings → Wireless Setup.
For eero, open the eero app.
Select Settings → Wifi name & password → Wifi network password.
View or edit the password.
Then tap Save after a change.
For Google Wifi or Nest Wifi, open Google Home.
To view the password, select Home → Wifi → Share password.
To change it, select Home → Wifi → Network settings, then select your existing password.
Enter the new password.
Tap Save.
Follow the rules for NOW Internet and shared properties
For NOW Internet and shared properties, service-specific controls explain why the ordinary rented-gateway instructions do not match your settings.
For NOW Internet, read the network name and password on the NOW Internet Gateway sticker. Xfinity says these credentials cannot be changed.
At a participating Xfinity Managed WiFi property, sign in to the Xfinity app.
Select View WiFi details. This screen displays the Unit Network SSID and password or the Property SSID and password.
To change the unit password, select the arrow in Unit. Your property's configuration determines whether you can choose a password or generate one; the network name cannot be changed.
For a custom password, enter the new value in Password.
Select Apply Changes. The confirmation reads Password changed, and Unit displays the updated value.
For a configuration with generated passwords, select Generate New Password instead.
Select Yes. The confirmation reads Password refreshed, and Unit displays the new password.
For participating Xfinity On Campus Wi-Fi properties, visit xfinityoncampus.com.
Select your university.
Sign in with your university credentials.
Open Account Settings → Profile. Your resident-network password appears under WiFi Information.
To replace that password, use the reset option under WiFi Information.
Contact university IT for university-login problems.
Restore access to the password controls
If a forgotten Xfinity account password blocks your access, open xfinity.com/password. Resetting this credential restores account access; it does not change your home Wi-Fi password.
Enter your Xfinity ID, eligible verified mobile number, or personal email.
Select Continue.
Choose text or email for verification.
Enter the verification code.
Select Continue.
Enter a new account password in the new-password and confirmation fields.
Select Continue.
Use the current Xfinity app to manage your home Wi-Fi password. The former xFi website and Xfinity My Account app are retired.
If you still cannot find or change your Wi-Fi password, open Services → Ask Xfinity Assistant in the Xfinity app for guided help and agent escalation. Assistant provides support, with no guaranteed command to display or change the password directly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I find a saved Wi-Fi password on an iPhone without connecting to that network?
Yes. On iOS 16 or later, open Settings → Wi-Fi → Edit and authenticate. Tap the Info button beside the saved network, then Password.
Does WPS reveal or change my Wi-Fi password?
No. WPS lets compatible equipment join the network without typing the password. It neither reveals nor changes the password.
Should I factory-reset my gateway if I forget the password?
Use password-viewing options first. A factory reset erases customized settings and interrupts service. Some setups require reactivation, and reset instructions differ by gateway model.
Does changing my home password change my Xfinity hotspot login?
No. Public networks named xfinitywifi, XFINITY, or Xfinity Mobile use separate hotspot or account authentication. Changing your private home Wi-Fi password does not change those credentials.
